Just a little note to commentators: Can we refer to the Caribbean by its real name - Caribbean - instead of the nondescript, geographically uncertain 'The Islands'. We really must end this practice of renaming places (and people!) because it is more convenient to us.

It's probably worth noting that Jamaicans are peaking by the time they get to Penn Relays. They peak at Champs which is late March. American kids arent peaking until JO's in July. Amercan kids season is starting when Jamaican kids season is ending. That's difinitely going to determine outcomes.

Incorrect. Jamaican junior track season lasts for the entirety of the year, considering that world junior champs is AFTER the summer world champs/Olympics and champs is during winter for other N.A territories. And in non-championship years they do have Pan-American u20s at the end of the season as well. In 2022 at the last world juniors Jamaica beat the US on medal quantity, and lost on quality by one gold medal after a long season that included champs, Penn relays and Jamaican trials. If it is as you say and Jamaicans only win because they are peaked and closing their season, then why do they still show up to world juniors and why do they dominate there as well?

@@jordanjordannis2258 I’m referring to high school kids who aren’t going to make worlds. The times they would have to run to make a world or National team is out of their reach. For many American kids Penn Relays is the first outdoor meet of the year.
