The EECS Department held its 2023 Juneteenth Celebration on June 16, 2023. Hosted by Prof. Herb Winful, this year's event featured a performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing by U-M carillonneur Jessi Grieser, a welcome by Lt. Governor and EECS alum Garlin Gilchrist, a reading of a history of Juneteenth by CSE DEI Project Manager Taj Williams, and a panel on Tech Empowering Our Communities. Panelists were EECS alums Leon Pryor and David Tarver, and SEAS PhD student Madeline Miller. CSE chair Michael Wellman and ECE associate chair for graduate affairs Heath Hofmann made final remarks and announced the release of the two divisions' DEI and Climate reports.
