Excellent setup, flying and attaching the laundry Glenn, really like the 90. I was helping a friend fly one yesterday in Grand Rapids, MI. First one I have seen fly other then here. What an awesome kite.

Ah, summer! I can't wait for it to arrive here. A very good display, and the stand-out item for me is that fabulous tail on the Stratosphere - if ITW could fit them with a tail like that it would be a real best-seller.
@PanyingPilot
@PanyingPilot 7 жыл бұрын
Jim Nicholls I must agree about that tail. Jim. The kite just needs it to complete the visual effect. Perhaps you will put Mr. Emmonds on to the idea. After being housebound in the valley heat, the beach campaign was welcome and enjoyable. It's also nice to have everything dry out quickly once back home again. Keep the videos coming, my friend.

Hi Glen! Thanks for sharing another great video. Any chance you can share where you purchased the tail for the ITW Stratosphere? Also, where can one find the spinners that Cherie attached to it? Thanks

Anthony Catalano Hi Anthony, Cherie made the tail. It's unique. The spinners are called Dynamo and made by Premier www.pictureprettykites.com/kite-accessories/14-dynamo-cool/ The come in cool, patriot and neon. We have a couple of each. Tell Helen, Glenn sent you at Picture Pretty. We really like the dynamos, they just work! Happy hunting.

Hello Glenn, Sorry for the delay. I used to fly kites some years ago when my children were smaller. But my level was amater, not as proffesional as yours. I liked to build my own kites taken plans from books and adapted as my own. For me, kites are the perfect toys where you can combine physics and poetry at the countryside in windy weather. Now I enjoy watching kites conventions in the internet and sometimes making kites for my nieces. Wow! That big Premier kite is some serious pulling machine and interesting knot ties to see also. Thank you for a great video . Oh! and that huge rope too. Wow ! Very interesting techniques to see. Absolutely love the big windsock coming out of its own bag......... (っ◕‿◕)っ Awesome awesome film indeed and that eagle got up real high and did such a beautiful beautiful glide and a great catch .... ☆☆☆☆☆ I had to go and look up Morro Bay bay on Google Earth. Only 350 kilometers from where I was just a few days earlier... ✔✔✔ Superb story and filming. What more to say. This was a joy to watch. Thank you. Have shared this clip on my Facebook page. Soooooo much need to find and buy one of those dual line diamond kites somehow. But where? And launching that Rokkaku at 9:48 just made me laugh. Reminds me of launching a quad. Nara.

MrHelidude Nara, thanks for such a generous compliment. Try Gomberg's factory outlet and see if any dual line diamond stunters are left. They are totally underappreciated for fun flying. The Premier kites are just superb, highly recommended. I flew it on 1250 lb 5mm accessory cord ( rope). I would be honored to throw some nylon in the sky with you someday. Kite flying DownUnder.... Carl Gillard Even as you are in the depths of winter, we are sweltering in the heat. The sojourn to the beach was necessary. The next big one will be Berkeley. We meet nice people when kiting, but there are some with their noses far too high in the air. It's never boring.

I think you and Cherie might have a problem Glenn, Kite addiction ! you tell yourselves that you can resist buying them any time you want, you tell yourselves don't have to fly ever bigger kites, you say to yourselves i don't HAVE to spend hours sat at a sewing machine... But then it's an addiction that is a positive benifit to the soul and makes other people happy seeing the kites, your a two person kite featival ! i certainly enjoyed seeing all the wonderful kites and line laundry you got into the air. Right back to my addictions, a weekend of classic cars by which time i'll be suffering withdrawal symptoms from Kites, but then i can give them up any time i want to... Honestly....

I have recently discovered i am deeply Autistic, High functioning Autism, the same as Steve Jobs, Einstien, Darwin, Newton etc, unfortunately i haven't got their level of intelligence, The upshot of this is the Autistic brain latches onto anything new and interesting that comes along, so i could have a new obsession every week ! Lots of things stick for a life time, Classic Cars, Rallycross, Bird Watching, Kites, Aircraft ( infact almost anything that flys or anything mechanical ) but i take an interest in almost everything that crosses my path.

Hi Glenn, I have a question about those kites that I never found out the answer. How do you get the giant Parafoil kites down? Because when I try to get my premier parafoil 20 down- it is hard. So I wonder what it’s like to get those down. Thank you and keep up the quality content.
@PanyingPilot
@PanyingPilot 3 жыл бұрын
Chris, landing a big kite is challenging. Although the technique is similar, there are two general conditions. Let's take the harder one first. The kite is flying over an obstruction like a dune, wall or hedge. I use a split pulley connected to a good quality carabiner, such as Omega. This is attached to a large 5 or 6 inch Harbor Freight padded carabiner. This carabiner has a webbed strap and a foot loop connected to it. The twin carabiners are necessary to keep the pulley wheel straight on the flight line. The object here is to walk down the line to a certain point and bring it back to the anchor to tie off as a shorter length. To manage this, you may employ another carabiner or a circular rapelling ring to attach to the flight line to provide friction. You do this on the anchor side of the flight line. You are effectively jamming the pulley with a blockage in order to use the pulley and strap to pull with. Then you pull everything slowly back to your anchor and clip it in and make your new knot robust. A twisted larkshead is a fast and reliable knot in this case. Repeat as needed by shortening the line until you can walk the kite down completely. Flip the kite upside down or use your body to push into the kite to force the air vents to blow downwind, thus safely collapsing the kite. Depending on the size of the kite, use a duck hunters decoy bag or a smaller mesh laundry bag to stuff the kite and tail into for later storage. Alternately, if there is no obstacle necessitating shortening the line, use the pulley system and just walk it down. The most critical bit is having a clear idea of how you will deflate and stow the kite once it is grounded. Did I mention gloves?

Hello Sim, welcome to the channel. Your idea is a good one. I prefer carabinas for one reason. Carabinas will not shake free or open up from flapping action of tail. If tail gets loose, you must do "walk of shame" and get kite tail back. Keep in touch and let me know when Killip video get posted! -Glenn

solarbake1 Congratulations on your new kite. I use three carabinas on the tail. I sometimes use three more of the same size on the kite. Your three biners are purple. If you substitute another color or tape the middle one, it speeds assembling the kite. I like to keep three carabinas on the kite and three on the tail. I hook the carabinas together and eliminate snags and wear on the tail and kite loops. The carabinas do not need to be any sturdier than than those supplied. You might want to look at S-biners too. Send video when you can. Glenn
