This song is originally taken from Gary's masterpiece album "Splinter: Songs From A Broken Mind". A small minority of Numan fans, myself included, consider it his best ever album. You would not go wrong doing reactions on any or all of the songs on that album. As to your observation that it's a dark, disturbing song - you're right. This album was borne out of a multi-year bout with depression that very nearly broke up his marriage. He got through it but put those experiences to good use on this album.

Ade Fenton created that 'atmosphere'. Personally I find the whole album incredibly dull. Front 242 were doing this type of music decades ago.

Numan formed tubeway army in 1977. Front 242 were formed in 1981
