And lastly, have you heard the other songs? This is the only good song from such a weak selection + Ollie has really great vocals and his performance was amazing

Eesti Laul always has some of the coolest most interesting songs, but often times they're not well staged or the performers are not competition-seasoned and inexperienced. It's usually a jury friendly ballad or a normative pop song that ends up winning. 😔 I hope this yr, one of these cool edgy entries gets the win.

For me, Estonia and Finland - and sometimes Iceland - are the nordic countries with the most interesting and refreshing national finals in recent times. I could see quite a few entries from Eesti Laul doing well at the contest, but of course in a way, Ollie would deserve it this time to represent Estonia.

My Friend isn't as good as Venom tbh but Ollie may still be our best option. I wish he'd come with Venom this year... Personally, I really like Over the Moon. It was the first song I wanted to listen from the beginning to the end. Gives me a bit of Space Man vibes, don't really know if it's about kind of similar topic and melody or long hair 😊. Probably all of it. Sad that we won't send something in Estonian. Again.

Even though I'm usually a fan of Eesti Laul, this year feels like a big step backwards IMO. There is literally no song that really grabbed my attention. Ollie's song was way better last year, but he's probably still one of the best this year. Laura's song is just... boring. Why does she even participate with a song like that? Most of the songs sound like demos. I hope the live performances will elevate it, but I have doubts about that.

@@TheManInBlueFlames That's not true at all! I don't often post something negative. That's not my mindset either. And yes, I'm a perfectionist. But we're talking about Eurovision here. It's the biggest music festival in the world. So the level should be very high. We're not talking about a high school performance after all. I know Estonia is capable of doing better than this because the last editions were definitely stronger.

The fall from grace for Eesti Laul has been happening for a few years now, but even this year with a new producer, it manages to become more disappointing with that godawful Automatic Qualifying system. What might be even worse is the songs that comprise these spots, since they are such weird and boring choices..Literally every AQ is so baffling, vanilla and noncompetitive..Not that the semifinal is much better since there seems to be such a lack of personality in these songs apart from some exceptions. 5MINUUST, FOMO, INGA, Serotoniin are probably my faves, but they're easily songs that can make or break live.
