Very fun to watch the master work through this. Great job and the restoration Terry.

I enjoy watching your videos. This series was by far the best, with plenty of tips and tricks to repair these old boat anchors. Keep them coming! Looking forward to Part III.

I would use a new poly high voltage filter cap. OR put equalizer resistors across the 22uf caps so they last. nice restoration.

Love your videos as they are very informative to those of us who have less knowledge and you give that knowledge to us. Thanks.

I was thinking you'd be going in to replace the old paper caps as well.

Hello, This video was just for the electrolytics. Also, it was to verify VFO operation. I will go thru the audio path in a future video. Lots to do on these Rangers

Nice job Terry.. I wonder why they used a 700v Filter Cap... seems over kill , especially since you replaced with a 500v. I guess back then they used what they had... either way, great job on this.... very well done... thanks Ron

2 500v 22uf caps wired in series makes 1 11uf 1000v cap. Cap logic man.

No high value resistors to balance the voltage between the two series caps? I know the theory behind the two series caps, but I'd be concerned that they might not be/stay balanced and then one cap gets too much voltage applied to it. Same issue when you power down. One cap may discarge first and then the other will start to reverse charge it.

Performed it this way for 20 years, no issues

2:14...WHAT ABOUT THAT BUMBLEBEE CAPACITOR?!!!
@waynethompson84165 жыл бұрын
Really should have replaced the "Black Bumble Bee" capacitor as well...especially since you had it out and where it would be easy to change. Now you would have to take it apart again to change it.
