Character One: Never leaves Tatooine, cares about the local community, works to improve Sand People-Settler relations, "respect, not fear". Character Two: Jets around the galaxy tracking people, getting into fights, sometimes takes random citizens hostage. One of these characters is Obi-Wan Kenobi, one is Boba Fett. Can you guess which is which?

It’s almost like they swapped the story outlines for the Boba Fett and Obi-wan Kenobi shows, and then filled in the details using the “appropriate” events and characters. I swear it seems Disney is just trolling fans at this point.

Well said. I mentioned this on a singular breakdown of an episode. So cool the way they subvert our expectations. Vader being menacing? Nah, it’s his muppet inquisitors that are the real scary guys. I mean, they have two stomachs after all. Obi wan standing up for something he believes in because it’s what’s right? Fuck that shit, a 10 year old that believes you should respect droids will teach him what it really means to be brave and courageous with what you believe. Who should trust who more? A 10 year old that is being rescued by a Jedi? Or a Jedi who is rescuing a 10 year old. Obviously the Jedi is the one that doesn’t know shit, 10 year old thought process will save us all!

A note on Imperial security and her cover: The Galactic Empire uses several layers of protection and information security. 1. Codes and credentials have authorization limited to specific assignments. Not just sectors, but assignments. If you're not in the exact right position you will be shot. 2. A base like this would be very tight security. It would also have at least a few Imperial Security Bureau officers within its ranks who make certain procedure is followed at point of blaster and are commonly around among the troops. They are also always sniffing for treason. 3. All vessels incoming require active and up-to-date credentials with clearance codes memorized that pair to the specific type of vessel. 4. These are extremely strict and punishable by death for violations, because the Empire will just jettison you out of an airlock. The only characters that can do anything without showing proper and full, exacting clearance of this specific station are potentially Grand Moff Tarkin, the head of the ISB, Darth Vader, and Emperor Palpatine. Other Grand Moffs also have near-universal authority within their sectors but that's still limited to the specific subset of systems. The 12 Grand Admirals also have pretty wide-ranging authority but that's limited to naval affairs. Considering that the number of people who can get clearance without being specifically cleared for it at this point would be maybe 4 people among the trillions serving the Galactic Empire, yeah that's not gonna happen. Also stormtroopers have vacuum seals in their armor that can last several hours. How dare anyone compare Disney to the Prequels. I would rather watch 7 hours of Jar Jar failing upwards than 10 minutes of 70% of Disney Star Wars.

Tarkin had a ten year old case and assumed that Alderaan was a nest of Jedi given how the Organa family acts toward Jedi. -Obi-wan and Leia were seen working with a proto-Rebel Alliance giving the Jedi witness protection services. -Bail was the one who contacted Obi-wan specifically to retrieve Leia because he wanted to keep the kidnapping secret. -Bail then sends a message that he will be the one to watch over the Lars homestead because Obi-wan couldn't be there. So let's do a character casualty checklist: Kenobi - a cowardly loser who lost connection to the Force and ditched his ONE job, protecting Luke, to go rescue Leia, who should have had the resources of an entire planet behind her, and in doing so, actually endangers Luke MORE by basically leading Reva right to him. Vader - Completely overpowered yet incompetent when plot needs to move forward. Also reduced to idiot status by leaving Reva alive. Leia - Turned into an annoying insufferable brat who somehow simultaneously is wise beyond her years yet also incredibly stupid when plot needs to happen. Reva - A completely unnecessary nothing one note character who has one setting: "screaming". Has a stupid plan that's executed in a stupid way with no payoff and we're forced to believe that she's now redeemed because she chose to NOT kill a small defenseless unconscious child. Luke - Oh, was Luke in this, I totally forgot, since this was the Reva and Leia Show, featuring Jake Kenobi. Owen and Beru - morons who stay to fight a Sith Inquisitor with a rifle and sticks. Bail Organa - turned into a MASSIVE idiot by getting Kenobi to rescue Leia instead of, as stated, USING HIS INCREDIBLE RESOURCES AS KING OF A PLANET AND SITTING IMEPRIAL SENATOR. Also, needs to break communication protocol and endanger Luke because plot needs to happen. The Inquisitors - made into goofy caricatures. Stormtroopers - completely useless in every regard and can easily be stopped by slapping them and can't recognize that a person is hiding a small child in a trenchcoat. Aside from that, the lighting is terrible, the editing is terrible, the shaky cam is beyond annoying, the dialgoue is cringe, the acting is half-assed, the writers need to be minecrafted, Disney is horrid, LucasFilm is a mess, and Star Wars is dead. The Diznoids that slurp up this slop and clap like braindead zombies because "reference" happened are the worst thing to happen to media.

You know the worst thing about the Tatooine Scenes, all of them, throughout the Disney Shows, is that it is presented as if it's an anarchy. Think about Tatooine as presented in the movies. Under Jabbas rule Tatooine became a place were different kinds of people could hide from a Republic, a Federation or an Empire. While the citizens of Tatooine did buy, sell, use slaves the living standards for Slaves on tatooine are surprisingly high. A Mother and her Child worked, got paid, could not only buy the necessities for survival, but also luxury goods, like the Droid parts with which the boy created a certain Protocoll Droid they could freely move in the City of Mos Eisley. They had their own house just for themselves, and from the little interactions we have seen the Tatooinians are surprisingly helpful. Many Filoni fanbois keep thinking that Jabba is evil and that he'd rule over the poor denizens of Tatooine with fear and violance. That's factually wrong.

@gaelstromproductions2 жыл бұрын
Eh, just don't let the discussion degenerate. Discussing slavery from a historical and economic standpoint is not wrong, otherwise it just becomes denying world history and places us at risk of repeating past mistakes. And in that same vein acknowledging realities about slavery's benefits to economies in worldbuilding of a story is equally as important otherwise you have the clusterfuck that is Book of Boba Fett where we're told bad things are occurring, but effectively none of those bad things are shown happening and it becomes ludicrous. You can intelligently and reasonably discuss slavery's presence in history and stories and what it does to a society and economy without condoning slavery as a concept.
@jonsimpson62402 жыл бұрын
@Pinko Slink there is a lot wrong with slavery, and practically all civilizations have used it.
@gaelstromproductions2 жыл бұрын
@Pinko Slink I'd actually say that's true if you mean dictated morality as opposed to perspective based morality, since the real reason slavery is disappearing is because as humanity has evolved in consciousness they realize that the workforce becomes more effective if they are incentivized and more is accomplished. So 'morality' (or more accurately the realization that harming people doesn't actually lead to long term benefit ala WWI leading to WWII) is something that we are steadily growing into as a species and as we understand consciousness and perspective more. With the increase in perspective which allows us as people to empathize with enemies, the idea of slavery being a viable approach falters. Especially since even the Romans realized that while slavery was an option, integration was far superior to let people keep their autonomy and culture so they retained happiness and just became taxable vassals of the empire rather than become slaves. Slavery was more of a last resort as opposed to the intent for a conquered peoples to the most intelligent civilizations contrary to movie and book portrayals. It's like Indentured Servants has been forgotten as a concept. Plus our perception on slaves has been inaccurate, to the OP's point. The pyramids weren't assembled by slaves who were forced to do it alone, at the time there was a true belief present in the godhood of the pharoahs and to work on it was an honor of a lifetime, even to sacrifice one's life in the building. So without going into ridiculous detail, long story short slavery has evolved out of the more stable places in the planet because true morality has been built based on perspective based empathy, not dictated doctrinal morality which isn't real.
@jonsimpson62402 жыл бұрын
@Pinko Slink the moral issues behind slavery are too numerous to list. But there are practical issues with it as well. It is more efficient to pay workers a wage and allow them to look after their owns housing/food/amenities/entertainment than it is to manually look after it. A paid worker is more motivated and effective at their job than a slave, especially if they get a pay or benefits incentive for production. With slavery, there is basically only stick the carrot option is pretty much off the table. And it's not that slaves revolt sometimes, it's that they always revolt. You have to be ready for a revolt always, addi to the cost of keeping slaves. It's a bit like paying for snow removal, you have to pay for it all year, even if you don't end up getting snow, because if you don't and the snow shows up you get fucked.

1:46:10 Regarding Darth Vader extracting thoughts from Luke, that seems much more passive than what we see in the Force Awakens. In Return of the Jedi, it's almost like Vader overhears Luke's thought. "Your thoughts betray you." That implies Luke is actively thinking about his friends, in particular Leia, and Vader is simply picking up on that through the Force. Whereas in the Force Awakens, Kylo Ren and Rey are using the Force to actively pull thoughts and information from each other's minds. I think the former works better because a disciplined individual, which arguably Luke is not at that point, would keep their mind clear and thus avoid being goaded into striking out in anger. It makes for a better blance of powers if Sith can sense powerful emotion but a well-trained Jedi can mask their emotion.

Yes, Anakin was still trained despite being too old, but everyone considered it a mistake, including Obi-Wan, and "when he's old enough" makes zero sense for him to say. What's more is that Obi-Wan was never gonna train him to begin with, just keep watch over him. Tiny tidbit of Star Wars lore: Jabiim is possibly the stupidest planet to have a Jedi resistance network on. Why, you may ask? Well, it may have something to do with the fact that the Jedi decided to lead an army there and brutally crush all dissent after the legitimate planetary government chose to join the Separatists and declare independence from the Republic. So Jedi would basically be seen as warmongers and war criminals on Jabiim- probably not the ideal place to make a secret Jedi hideout.

I just found out what Palpatine did to the jedi archives. I googled this and in a year the archives were ransacked and destroyed. HOW does Reva still have that information between Bail and Obiwan if the archives were destroyed when she was still a kid, is a mystery to me. The only three people that broke into the jedi archives would have been Obi, Yoda, and Jocasta Nu. Jocasta was chased by a full suited Vader into the temple and stole some of the jedi archives. Btw Jocasta dies because she knew Vader's secret
@Lobsterwithinternet2 жыл бұрын
Actually, the comics have both Vader and the Grand Inquisitor looking into the Jedi Archives when Jocasta was infiltrating them. But this just opens up a bigger can of worms.

Vader should get his plans stifled by Obi Wan and say, "This is all Obi Wan's fault!" and then Obi Wan steals his droids, so Vader says, "You've turned them against me!" but actually it was because Vader mistreated them, so Obi Wan says "You have done that yourself!" and then later they face off in a swamp, and Obi Wan finds a spot that isn't submerged so he can move around easier, and he says, "It's over, I have the dry ground!" but vader says 'don't underestimate my power!" and then falls over. it's super smart.

Show: "See, the last scene between Vader and Obi absolves Obi of the horrors and death Vader caused!" Except Obi sparing Vader makes him responsible for every horror and death Vader causes from then on... At least in RoTS he left Anakin for dead so Vader wasn't really his fault, now though? Absolutely his fault.

Jedi separated a child from its mother leaving her to die in SLAVERY then completely botched the training of said child all the while knowing it was very risky thing to do. Left Anakin to fend for himself vs sith lord then put all the blame on him used his pregnant lover with complete disregard for her well being then mutilated him leaving him to die in agony. On top of that later training and indoctrinating Anakins children in order to kill him.
@petriew20182 жыл бұрын
@@Mytelefe this would all be true to someone who hasn't actually seen the prequels. Anakin was not exactly an angel by nature, a big reason his training was 'botched' was because of his own inner demons that he couldn't, or wouldn't, face honestly. This left him a prime target for Palpatine, who also played a big role in his fall from proverbial grace. There's also a big argument to be made that Qui-Gon's ultimately at fault for insisting he be trained as a Jedi in the first place, in spite of he fact he may not have been up to the pressures of it, because of his pre-existing emotional attachments that ultimately undermined his training in the first place. Blaming Darth Vader solely on Obi-Wan or the Jedi is the kind of simplistic nonsense Disney would like you to believe so they don't have to deal with the kind of complex storytelling they don't want to pay a professional to write. Darth Vader is the end result of choices Anakin made, knowing full well he was headed down the road of darkness.

@@petriew2018 Plus, Anakin’s main motive of getting more power aside of saving Padme is to rule the empire and free the slaves, right? He ended up enslaving way more people during his reign and it’s not the Jedi’s fault.
@chromicm66862 жыл бұрын
@@petriew2018 I disagree, the Jedi council are squarely to blame for Anakins fate. Qui-gon was right to have him trained, can you imagine how an insanely powerful, vengeful child prodigy would turn out on his own on Tatooine, without any guidance in slavery? He would have become Angron Under a decent father figure like Qui-gon he would have probably become a decent person, but after he died and no other Jedi were willing to step up and give him paternal affection the only father figure he had was creamy sheev. Realisticaly what was going to happen when they shunned him as a problem or outsider and ignored his fears for years, all while palpatine treated him as the son he never had? Even better when they told him to let his wife and kids die while palps gave him a way out.
@petriew20182 жыл бұрын
@@chromicm6686 uh-huh, you disagreeing means little when you explain that it's based on really terrible reasoning... Anakin as an untrained, ignorant 'child prodigy' is not dangerous, because this isn't Disney Star Wars yet were training is purely optional. What would Anakin have done without training? i mean, this was back when the force had rules, so the most likely scenario is he'd have lived and died in anonymity on a planet the Galaxy had long since forgotten. Tragic end? sure.... but less tragic than what happened when he did get trained... You're assuming Qui-Gon would have been a great father figure, but once again this is an assumption that flies in the face of what you were actually shown. Qui-Gon's motivation was a vague prophecy, the belief in which may have over-ridden his better judgement. Clearly there is a good reason why you don't train children like Anakin, children who you do have to force to leave the families behind. Anakin himself demonstrated why there is, in fact, some wisdom in that practice. This blind assumption that Qui-Gon was somehow automatically in the right is a mistake a lot of people make, but is contradicted by the film itself. He was not motivated by concern for Anakin, his motivation was blind faith. realistically the only conclusion you can draw from the film is that Anakin was doomed from the start.... which, i mean, duh, that was the whole fucking point of the story from the get go. Lucas said as much, he was written to be a tragic figure. Every step of the way Anakin is shown to be aware of what he's doing. He struggles with his emotions, he knows when he's doing something he shouldn't. He has he reasons for doing them, but you have to be a complete idiot to convince yourself he's just an innocent victim in any of this. And before it even comes up, i don't give a flying fuck about what gets retconned in 'the clone wars'. The continuity in that show is dogshit no matter what it made you feel.

Did the writers think that the first interaction between Owen and Reva was a good setup for the finale? The only way it works is from a totally meta perspective if you've already watched the whole show because in-Universe it just establishes Reva as nothing more than a Saturday morning cartoon villain, just like every other in Disney Star Wars.

The funny part about the whole Bounty Hunter discussion near the end of ep 1, there is a series of 4 Clone War's episodes where Obi-Wan goes undercover as a Bounty Hunter because Count Dooku is hiring Bounty Hunter's for a scheme and he is chosen to infiltrate it. Rako Hardeen is his undercover identity, a Bounty Hunter specialized in sniping his targets from afar (cause guess what, force abilities like enhanced reflexes and precog are pretty handy for a sniper). Also just to add some more context, Obi-Wan is the one chosen to go undercover because they fake his death and Anakin is not in on the ruse. This is because Anakin's reaction is what is considered important to sell the idea that Obi-Wan is dead. This also ends up being another push for Anakin's mistrust of the Jedi Order once the ruse is revealed. I would even say they are some of shows better episodes. And if Obi-Wan has to go off rescuing Leia and takes up a fake identity as a Bounty Hunter you could call back to how he did it once before? I mean they do love their call backs and at least if he is undercover it is, if only slightly, more believable.
