One of the most annoying things Filoni has ignored from his own creations is the fact that Bo Katan has failed to lead mandalore 2 or 3 times, depending on how you look at it. The first time wasn't entirely on her, but she was second in command. Her leader, Pre Vizla, lost a duel to Maul, so Maul was the leader of Mandalore now. She refused to follow Maul and a few members of the Deathwatch went with her. About a year later, shortly before Order 66, Bo and some republic forces (mainly Ahsoka) took down Maul. She takes the throne again, only for the Enpire to take over and attack Mandalore. That's the "Night of a Thousand Tears." Then, in Rebels, she was given the darksaber (she didn't win it, so I guess the rules didn't matter then). She tried to unite the various Mandalorian clans, but only a few joined with her. Then the Empire attacked Mandalore again. This js the one we saw in BoBF, or the Mandalorian Purge. Tl;dr: Bo Katan failed to lead Mandalore a few times, and should not be trusted with the command again. Edit because I forgot about this: Maul also didn't have a drop of Mandalorian blood in his veins, yet some of the mandalorians of the clone wars followed him. Why does it matter now? They have to know that Maul had control of Mandalore before the Empire rose? The more I think about this, the more I want to die.
@admiralgaius9796 Жыл бұрын
The writers kind of forgot about the past writing.

Its such wasted character potential too. Imagine an external conflict over who gets to lead the mandalorians combined with an inner conflict in Bo Katan over her past failures and she eventually comes to realise she needs to pass the torch onto another for the good of mandalore.
@DillsyYourDaddy67 Жыл бұрын
So essentially Mandalore was a neutral planet that had no stakes in the clone wars. Pre Vizla overthrow Satine to return to the warrior ways, Maul overthrew Pre Vizla by right of a warriors challenge, Bo refused to follow Maul because he was an alien (lmao honestly considering what the mandalorians are supposed to be). Bo unable to take Mandalore herself, invited the republic over to the planet to install her as leader, but this was like a few hours before order 66 so the empire kinda just didn't leave the planet and overthrew her Later some Mandalorians rebelled against the empire and re-installed her as leader and this is when night of a thousand tears happened after she surrendered (lmao some mandalorian she is) to spare the planet. So not only did Bo help organise a coup and fake invasion against her own sister, she turned her back on the warrior ways by refusing to follow Maul, couldn't take the planet by her own strength so she invited clone legions onto the planet to install her as ruler, and then lost the planet TWICE to the empire. And somehow she's the appropriate ruler for mandalore

IIRC quite literally Papa Palps had a galaxy-wide shutdown code for the droid armies. Anakin murdering the remaining CIS leadership on Mustafar along with most major CIS strongholds and home worlds under siege meant that uncoordinated, unprepared, and undefended generals, admirals, and politicians had to escape the Republic, re-activate as many droids as possible, and run to a new hiding place to prepare. This is actually what happened. CIS remnants held out in the outer-rim for I think almost a decade that was ended by Vader essentially exterminating that branch of space with a huge fleet. Individual CIS patriots sometimes joined the Rebel cause, which caused some conflict internally because the mission state of the Rebellion was to bring back the Republic. Although, because of the decentralized makeup of the resistance prior to close to the end of the Empire meant that criminals, pirates, rebels, and sympathizers with huge variations in size and quality meant that as long as you were fighting the Empire and not being too evil you’d get some support. EDIT: the problem with the Separatist cause recovering is that their forge-worlds and resource worlds were known and captured immediately by the Republic

the darksaber plot is so bad and it’s hilarious how quickly it was resolved. gonna copy & paste an old comment I made during the first episode. “it kinda sucks that the only way the show/that story could end is with Mando and Katan fighting for the saber and him finally “losing”. her, fighting to prove she’s the rightful owner of the saber. him, fighting to prove he’s a true mando and should be accepted back in. it could be like how Rocky loses but it’s still meaningful. despite losing the saber, mando went the distance, like a “true mando”. but the characters and story suck so it’s gonna be meaningless, poorly done, and unearned.” I honestly respect Mando less because of it. instead of fighting like a man(do) he uses the ancient art of “litigation”. might as well say the darksaber has her “cooties”. he got off easy.

Speaking of destroyed clones, why have a simple switch that overpressurizes the tanks to the point of water ejecting out the front lol? It's like the writers saw the inquisitor base hallway scene in Kenobi and were like "lets do that!" 5. Why the pack of little rat droids with little police lights and alarms, come on man... 6. This episode highlighted for me just how inconsistently one of Mando's only character traits, his distrust of all droids (Not just battle droids) has been handled throughout the show. He went from initially not trusting droids at all in early season 1 (which was already pretty dumb) to then being saved by IG-11 later in season 1 thus he began being more tolerant of droids, which was somewhat rushed/glossed over however I assumed from that point onwards Mando better understood that droids adhere to their programming and aren't inherently untrustworthy or dangerous. This seemed like one of the few pieces of development Mando had and I expected it would be consistent throughout the rest of the show but then in this episode after being shown that some of the droids on Jizzo's planet are malfunctioning he fully goes back to totally disliking droids, comically kicking the super battle droids, threatening the bartender droid and outright stating they can't be reasoned with or relied on. Even though at the beginning of the season Mando had IG-11 resurrected, it then tried to kill him and Grogu because it reverted to its 'base programming' and yet Mando was still attempting to revive IG-11 again for the mission on Mandalore, showing no signs of distrust for droids at that point even though it would've made more sense. It seems like the writers of the show struggle with writing consistent characters when they're not cramming the show with nonsensical action scenes and having the characters utter empty, meaningless but supposedly 'cool' sounding dialogue. I will say though watching Mando cartoonishly chase a super battle droid made me laugh almost as much as the hilariously choreographed Bo-Katan fight at the end.

My brother told me some interesting things from his time working on Disney SW projects (in VFX). Even in the Rogue One days, there was a culture of possessiveness at every level of production. Rather than work together towards a common goal, most were obsessed with carving out *_their_* own piece of Star Wars. So it's no wonder the writing feels so disjointed when you've got committees of writers & producers each driven by their own selfish desire to have their bit of SW content, no matter how poorly it fits with the overall narrative. There were already signs of this back in Season 1, but Mando was just starting and it didn't have quite as many vultures trying to pick at its carcass. So you'd get what felt like slightly longer stretches of coherent storytelling before being violently yanked another direction by the nepotism of some big wig director's daughter wanting her own director credit (Bryce Dallas Howard)...

That point about the Separatists potentially coming back after the fall of the Republic or the Empire as Rags was saying is one of my biggest gripes with modern Star Wars. They act like once a faction's capital or leaders or planets or whatever are defeated, then they simply cease to be like an enemy faction in Dawn of War Annihilation mode. It's so ridiculous the idea that an entire faction, it's tech, it's people, it's history, it's soldiers, it's politics, it's teachings, ANYTHING just is gone or removed from the Galaxy (at least until they want to reference it for some shallow cameo). Like the New Republic gets 5 planets destroyed, and oh my gah it's GONE now! First Order quite literally controls everything now! oooohohohohoho. There are so many ways you could incorporate stuff from prior stories into newer stories or the history of the Star Wars galaxy in an actually organic/interesting way outside of "oh my gah, it Luke! Look at him choppy them robbit bois". Just speaks volumes of the childish understanding Lucasfilm has with world building or writing a story in a world they want you to be immersed in. I can't buy into your world or believe it's a real place unless you work it out in a believable way. See Andor for how to do good Star Wars, or even Episode 3 to a degree, I actually enjoyed Episode 3 quite a bit. Maybe what I'm saying it stupid too, I am abysmal at conveying my thoughts or saying intelligent things, but just some thoughts I had thinking about all of that and thought I'd toss them out there. Okay I shut up now, back to lurking and trying to make silly meme comments if I feel like it. Also hair lady's hair is really stupid and she should cut them off. Unless they're nutrient tubes to pump nutrients to her brain.

The Separatists did return during the Imperial era, at one point. They got put down real quick though. One of the last ranking Separatist officers wanted to reactivate a dormant droid factory and build an army to challenge the Empire. Unfortunately for him, the memories of fighting droids were still fresh in the minds of veterans from the Clone Wars so much so that the Empire immediately sent a force down to make sure the officer was dead, deactivate the facility and nuked it from orbit for good measure because they hated the idea of fighting droids again for another decade or so. If there were any Seperatists in hiding left, entertaining fantasies of vying for dominance on the galactic map, there sure wasn't anymore after that.

I'm surprised you guys passed over the ship being taken over remotely so quick because it's pretty universe breaking when you think about it, the Empire never used anything like that and even If you reasoned that the technology didn't exist until after the Return of the Jedi then you still have the problem of sequels and not using it any of the situations that would have stopped the rebellion dead at any point
@CrossBreedTacoHD Жыл бұрын
I don't really have the technical vocabulary to properly explain my thoughts, so here goes nothing. I would assume there is probably a level of understanding of frequencies/signals and advance sensor technology required to remotely hack a starships computer, and yet I'm pretty sure everyone in starwars relies on "space radar"....And pretty shit radar at that (A moon sized death star can't even scan a few hundred km to see the falcon staring at it. It's space god damn it, you should be able to scan hundreds of thousands if not millions of kms away). And they can't even detect or back trace the "pings" from other ships as well. Submarines can do that for pete's sake. Damn, wish I was more of a science fiction nerd. There is a point I am trying to make and this is a small portion of it, but I'm not satisfied with what I wrote. Well now that think about, ships can communicate with one another, so they obviously have some technology that allows them to send out signals and sensors to catch those signals, so maybe I'm being too harsh. But then again this is the same universe where people can have real time conversations with people that are hundreds of light years away on a god damn pay phone so this entire technical thought process is pointless and I should just look at it from a story's perspective. Which like you said, it is an obvious plot contrivance, whether or not the technology is justifiable...
@EraldoCoil-ce1vz Жыл бұрын
@Peepo's Embarassment I could understand the technology existing in a futuristic place like Star Wars but not in a shared universe where in other points in the present or future, it's never used again. Tractor beams already exist, which have short range but have been used in the past when a ship gets close enough that would have been a better choice because 1. They wouldn't have had to use tech only existing for this episode 2. Mando and Bo would have had the choice to fight against the tractor beam by a light speed thrust into space or discuss if they should take the chance to see who's pulling them in Or forget all that and do the most reasonable thing just call them and have a civil discussion instead of a hostil taking of their ship

Star Wars before disney was clear that droids are learning machines and need memory wipes to ensure they stick to their programming. With time though they could learn and develop their own personalities and beliefs making them seem more human despite not initially being "fully sentient." A moment I really love in Legends during the Yuuzhan Vong war these machine hating aliens were basically droid genociding every planet they captured, and Threepio has a short moment in one of the books where he contemplates his mortality and his self preservative cowardice he'd shown in the past, but because of his time with the heroes he decided he loved his friends and it was worth risking himself to keep them safe. Disney's problem is they looked at the surface and saw how human Artoo and Threepio were in the OT and decided all droids were always sentient and now nothing about droids makes sense.

Aww Christopher Lloyd used Cad Banes lines he used on Boba about the stifflings. They’re recycling their own garbage lines that no one understands 😂

It was used by Boba Fett first, I believe he said it to Bo Katan when they met. I think it basically means "that's bullshit"

Also, does this mean that Bo-Katan and Mando just stole that entire planet's fill in army? Is that going to be addressed? My money's on probably not.

24:00 After Bo Catan interrupts Christopher Lloyd explaining how he is a Separatist, she says 'Politics', with contempt. I guess this is a callback to the thing people say about the prequels. Even though it's way more interesting than Mandalorian slapfights over who gets to hold the Edgesabre.

"What if the droid said "please no before they shoot him" Hard cut to a compilation of droids screaming, begging, and crying has jedi tear them apart while making puns from the clone wars cartoon Me: so your telling me they are'nt sentient?

I love how mando, who‘s only character trait is to be overprotective, just watches a woman hold a sword to grogus neck.

It's twilight and EFAP wakes up hot Their bodies soaked in a cold, cold sweat They re-enact the lurid scenes Of Mando episodes engraved in their heads Oh, Paz Vizla can't punch hard enough Bo-Katan can't kick high enough Stormtroopers can't shoot straight enough Din Jarrin can't hold on enough Oh, Dave Filoni can't stay down enough (and chat runs) Jon Favreau can't take pain enough (and chat runs) KK can't bleed fast enough The Mandalorian can't die dead enough The writing is thin, but the characters are thick The music is beating like a drum (boom!) And ice is flowing through EFAP's veins Explosive jokes on their lips and in their hearts Oh, Paz Vizla can't punch hard enough Bo-Katan can't kick high enough Stormtroopers can't shoot straight enough Din Jarrin can't hold on enough Oh, Dave Filoni can't stay down enough (and chat runs) Jon Favreau can't take pain enough (and chat runs) KK can't bleed fast enough The Mandalorian can't die dead enough Chat doesn't know what they're running from And chat doesn't know where they're running to There's something deep and strange inside of chat, we see Chat don't know what they're running from And chat don't know where they're running to The Mandalorian's compelling chat to run into the dark And now EFAP is more driven than before And now chat lives just to settle scores And now EFAP feel the nearness of their breath Now we introduce Mandos to their death [Solo - Fringy] [Solo - Mauler] [Solo - Rags] EFAP is more driven than before Chat lives just to settle scores EFAP feel the nearness of their breath EFAP introduces Mandos to their death Axe Wolves can't punch hard enough Bo-Katan can't kick high enough Stormtroopers can't shoot straight enough Din Jarrin can't hold on enough Star Wars can't stay down enough (die dead enough) Star Wars can't take pain enough (die dead enough) Star Wars can't bleed fast enough (die dead enough) Star Wars can't die dead enough (die dead enough)

“You had me at ‘battle droids.’” 12:27 I can imagine the writers straining to find the conclusion of “You had me at-“, from this irrelevant mission, then decided to go with the one thing the Mandalorian was supposed to change his mind on.

One of the Disney writers watched the video of the guys kicking a robot and said "I have an idea!"

You mean the Boston Dynamics video ? Fucking lol I can totally see the inspiration.

I love how in the finale, Mando shoots and kills people in Beskar by aiming for non-plated areas. Between the 3 seasons and Fett, Mando should be dead 10 times over.

This episode just singlehandedly introduced remote control hi-jacking of starships, which is only a tiny notch below the Holdo Maneuver in terms of universe-breaking bullshit.
