Paul Washer: The power of the gospel

Paul Washer preaches about the power of the gospel. It is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes (Romans 1:16).
Equally important: The greatest means of growing in sanctification is greater and greater knowledge of what God has done for us in Christ! For a Christian to maintain what he/she already has gained in sanctification, he/she must not depart from the gospel and go on to something new! Hold on to the same gospel, hold on to Christ and Him crucified for us!

Like any good Berean, I like to check what has been preached against God's Holy Word, the Bible. One of the best methods the enemy uses and continues to use to divide the church is through Preachers either dilluting the Gospel message or preaching it erroneously. I believe in the inerrant Word of God. Sadly, I also acknowledge the number of Preachers going off on a tangent and getting it wrong. On the whole, from the few messages i have viewed of Paul's, I am quite content to accept that he means well. He has a genuine heart for the Gospel message and I'm sure more good than harm will come from his preaching. In this message I have noticed a couple of anomalies before reaching the half way mark. He describes Paul the Apostle as 'One of the Twelve' apostles. I'm not sure what his thinking was here, unless it was a slip of the tongue. Paul, who was formerly Saul of Tarsus and from whom we attribute most of our New Testament Books, was chosen to be an apostle by God, as one 'Abnormally', Paul describes [1 Corinthians 15:8]. Jesus chose His twelve Apostles, only Mathias, to replace Judas, was chosen by the Disciples. Paul preaches here that we don't know if there will be day and night in Heaven. Well, I beg to differ. Day and night as we know it is determined by the rising and the setting of the Sun. In Heaven there will forever be LIGHT of such magnitude, from the Glory of God''s throne, there will be no Darkness. Neither do I believe there will be 'Sleep' as we know it.

I need prayer I left my home town to get away from my old life and friends. but now we're being told I can stay. but my husband cannot. my sister wants me to take the house back but I have to leans on the house. I'm not sure moving back to my hometown is the best idea.although I took down with god's help bigger Golgotha's out here than in Elmira. When people try to tell you that you don't have to worry about keeping Gods law or that you're just a legalist if you you are seeking to do the things God Loves and wants you to do, and are seeking to flee from the things God hates don't listen to them. The True Believer Loves the Law of God. It is not a burden for them. And yes it is hard sometimes but We press on in the Power of the Holy Spirit. Asking God To Keep us from Evil each day. The true believer Does Strive to keep Gods law TO BE SAVED. He keeps Gods law BECAUSE HE IS SAVED!! AND LOVES THE LORD GOD BECAUSE GOD FIRST LOVED US! In the beginning God created Heaven and Earth. He created humans too to have a relationship with Him. That's our purpose as humans that have a relationship with God. Sin, however, messed that up because it made us imperfect and imperfect creatures cannot have a relationship with a perfect and holy God. That's why we so oftentimes feel empty, unsatisfied and unaccomplished because we're not in relationship with the God we were created to be in a relationship with. But that's where Jesus comes in. Jesus is God's son and He came down to earth in human form to live the same life we do yet unlike us He never sinned. Jesus is perfect. Yet despite the fact He is perfect He died on the cross for our sins and sacrifice Himself for us. The punishment for our sins is death but because Jesus took that punishment for us if we put our faith in Him and receive Him as Lord and savior we can be reconciled to God and be restored to that relationship we were created to have. And we can be sure that Jesus is the Son of God because on the 3rd day God raised Him from the dead and in that He defeated death and the grave, proving that He can do the same for us if we put our faith in trust in Him. That's how you get to Heaven. That's how you become full in your heart. That's how you become reconciled to the God who created you.

12:23 This is so true. While being in such a church back in 2010-2014, we were told to go out into the world and preach the Gospel. I found it difficult, because I didn’t know what the Gospel was or how to carry it over to an unbeliever, due to the fact that the pastor rarely preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ as it is done here. It was easier to just invite the unbeliever to church to listen to the pastor self, and hope that they may go to the alter call. The messages were always (and still is today) messages about how to improve as a person, getting the right mindset, be a positive thinker etc. I longed for the hardcore truth of the Gospel. I’m not ready yet, but just by listening to Paul’s teachings of the Gospel in the past 2 days, I feel more confident to go out into the world and preach the Gospel. I learned more here in 2 days, than 4 years in a church (I went every Sunday, morning and evening). That says something.

@@UnlimitedMercy Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I have not yet gone to a church physically, but have one in sight. I'm still cautious with the C-19 restrictions and lockdowns in our country. But, I am daily reading the Bible, praying and genuinely trying to repent - which I never have done before. There was a rough time in the year since July 2020, but I am growing. I find joy in Christ. I still watch genuine faith videos online where I learn and often, often listen to the Message of the Gospel, to continually refresh my spirit and mind.

One thing I can say, at least with those sins that I struggled with consistently and felt like I could never get free from, I didn’t find victory until I allowed the Lord to fight the battle for me. When temptation arises in those areas my prayer is, “Lord, I don’t want that, give me desires for you and the things that glorify you. I am too weak to stand against the temptation, Lord, take it from me, fight for me.” He has been so faithful in giving me victory through those prayers. Blessings in Christ! The hardest thing to hear in ANY Christian Church across America is “WHAT IS THE GOSPEL?” and “How does the Power of the Gospel work?” Do I have to wait until I ‘feel’ the Holy Spirit? Do I change myself or does God change me? If I desire to change, and sin still tugs at me, how do I Love Him? Do I Love the Father, Jesus, or the Holy Spirit? Then “church people” want to sign me up to work in a program, but I’m coming OUT OF CATHOLICISM; I need a lot of ‘deprogramming and a lot of explanation about some of the more difficult verses. Pastor Washer is right! Signing a card, getting dunked, and walking out to be a good person isn’t what Paul spent YEARS teaching people. I’m learning by listening- over and over to the Bible. Over and Over and Over, while pleading with God, reminding Him that HE SAID, Faith comes by hearing the Word.

These are the Words of Jesus in Mark16:17, These signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will take up serpents; if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." These are the words of Jesus before He departed to heaven. Absolutely there would be evidence of the power of the Lord or"signs would follow God's true disciples. Jesus healed and delivered people while He was on the earth and so did His apostles-disciples even after they received the Holy Spirit and Jesus said greater works we would do than He. We should not diminish what the Lord instructed us to do.

I have like 4 gospels in my home, and the other night I spoke with my mother about God, and it immediately back-lashed. She started mocking me and belittling me, and I was telling her how Jesus was working in my life, and she was mocking me so much I freaked out and punched a hole in my door and cursed her out. I repented though and I was extremely grieved about it. It's just painful because I was trying to be gentle and show her the glory in the gospel, but for 5 years now she has hesitated to even let me talk to her about it, and I get so angry at the utter arrogance of unbelievers.

Plus if we study the book of revelation you realize how much great of a time it sounds like music of all kinds, we all will learn a new song, we will have instruments other then the harp, we can give thanks , talk to Jesus , the angels ,praising God, talking to other saints, bowing down to God ,and just a few things.

That whole section Paul talks about around 58:06 sounds eerily like what Billy Graham says at the end of his crusaids. Paul isn't mentioning preachers by name, but it's very similar to what Billy Graham says in his alter call part of his sermons.

And Jonah was in the belly of the FISH three days and three nights." If God wanted to say a WHALE 🐋 DON'T YOU THINK HE WOULD HAVE SAID THAT HE PREPARED A WHALE INSTEAD OF A GREAT FISH? AFTER ALL HE IS THE ONE WHO MADE EVERYTHING ON EARTH IN THE EARTH AND IN THE WATER? BESIDES A WHALE IS NOT A FISH, IT'S A MAMMAL. Do we get an Apostile ? I am getting really old and still don't get any of this so all i can do is know it was already done paid and all i do is go to a shrink....i am not going to get this so i'm told it cannot be my understanding anyway..i don't know enough, and it's not about my understanding which is nothing but his, not mine. I am not to interpret, cause it's not about anyone's unde rstanding. I got tired of trying something i can not allowed to comprehend according to what i'm told. It's not up to my understanding. I have been told that. He will do what he want's i don't want to understand i tried all my life and almost spent too much time at shrinks depressed, from feeling i'm a candidate for hell, and had tons of panick attacks, giving these shinks a field day on me, from my bible non understanding an completely afraid of hell to mentally paralized in life. This crazy woman started screaming picking a fight . She called me all kinds of names started asking why I lied about her I didn't know what she was talking about l have tried by the grace of God to return her negativity with kindness by saying I don't know who u r she spat upon me said I am going to show u why your life is always a living hell because all you do is lie she called more names threatened to kill me when I got home I got thinking am I being chastised for my sins in the past or did she get me mixed up with someone else.

Paul took I Corinthians 15:1 out of context. He was repeating the basics of the Gospel because there were some in the congregation claiming that there was no resurrection. He was correcting a false teaching.
