respected sir, I have a doubt, we are Voc as 0.6 V, and calling it the cut-in voltage; is it the cut-in voltage due to the silicon p-n junction, however, Voc is the open circuit voltage, and as per the data-sheet of the BLD 240-60P discussed in the previous lectures; its value is 36.7 V, I will be very grateful if you and your team may clarify this doubt.

Every cell produce 0.6 V, and you have many of them connected in series, they were 60 cells, 60 * 0.6 = 36 V. These 60 cell is connected in series so the diodes like added in series so their total cut-in voltage will be 36 V, the diode he drawn imagine it many diodes in series that their equivalent is 36 V battery.

I am writing a thesis on how temperature affects the efficiency and fill factor of a solar cell. I have to display these expressions graphically. Does anyone know where I can find the equations?

Can anyone explain me the physics backround in decrease of effieciency in PV cells when the temperature increases? According to physics, higher temperature in semiconductors generates more free electrons so why is there a decrease in efficiency? I do not care too much about equasions... just the basic principle. Thank you :)

Hi Josef, As the temperature increases, there is a decrease in semiconductor "band gap", which in turn decreases the cell output voltage. The term "band gap" represents the minimum energy that is required to excite an electron up to a state in the conduction band where it can participate in conduction. Hope it clarifies ! - Sukhbir

@@SukhbirSingh-hz1bm Hello, thank you a lot, this is the type of language I was looking for. Bless you sir, I understand now :)

But shouldn’t the decrease in band gap width increase efficiency because it is easier to excite and free an electron and therefore allow it to participate in conduction?
@josefruzicka9637
@josefruzicka9637 2 жыл бұрын
@@manasahuja1193 I believe the trick here is in the output voltage. When there is a decrease in a band gap, you might excite the electrons easier, but as long as it decreases the output voltage, you get less energy transfered to the load. So less energy from the light is being utilized and you get lower efficiency.

Good evening, my name is Francesco and I'm doing a thesis on floating photovoltaic panels. I'm looking for a relationship between the resistor Rs that appears in the equivalent circuit and the temperature. this is to see how the resistance value varies at different temperatures. Can anybody help me?

Sir, how can the fuse rating is greater than short circuit current?
@varuncvs7411
@varuncvs7411 4 жыл бұрын
since a solar cell is a limited current source it does not matter and fuse is not present to protect the panel. the fuse in this case only protects the cable and sized accordingly. in us(nec) it's next standard size of fuse beyond sc*1.25

insolation means amount of solar radiation.

Insolation --> kWh/m^2 (Energy per meter square) Irradiance --> kW/m^2 (Power per meter square) Those both known as Solar irradiance, they have different units as you can see, one represents the energy per meter square for a specific period, and another represents the power per meter square.
