I stand on the balls of my feet on a eliptical on a high resistance setting. I know it's not body weight callisthenics however for me it works really well.

Thanks! My left calf is smaller and weakern than my right and would you know it: I have a harder time just flexing the muscle compared to the right side. Will start with daily training!

I wonder why this is. It was easy the first time flexing the biceps, looking at the mirror. Chest, took some time before I really knew I could flex them hard. Lats, still har actually. Hamstrings, easier because I was in track but not as easy as the quads. Maybe the calves are hard to flex because they sit behind the body low down, far from the brain. We don't often look at our calves, as a matter of fact that is also hard.

Hamstring curls on rings or suspension straps with the weight on the balls of the feet (jnstead of the heels) is what made me see huge calve gains.

@@Edgycoo The weighted calf raise machine at the gym hurts the inside of my knee joint so I gotta find other methods to hit the calves

Have you experimented with ankle weights around the calve? I tend to find when I use dumbbells or barbells, if feels like the upper body is off setting the weight and not efficiently increasing resistance for the calves(I.e. your grip might give out before the calve )
