FORWARD STROKE - STANDARD PADDLE - STEEP TECHNIQUE #
USE / APPLICATION CASE
++. Standard beat normal tours
PROCEDURE
~ Dive phase (catch): The paddle is "anchored" in the water as far forward as possible and completely submerged.
Main pull phase (power phase): The upper hand pushes forward the lower hand (pull hand) leads the paddle close to the boat.
~ Excavation: The paddle is lifted approximately at waist level with the lower hand (pulling hand).
~ Change: The lower hand goes up, about at head height and becomes the print hand. The upper hand goes down and becomes the pull hand and initiates the dive phase (catch), etc.
TIP
* In the main phase, open the upper hand (print hand) slightly, so that the rotation is easier and thus also the propulsion.
* The forward stroke is the most complex paddle stroke here it helps to record videos of yourself and to practice continuously.

PROCEDURE
~ Dive phase (catch): The paddle is "anchored" in the water as far forward as possible and completely submerged.

~ Excavation: The paddle is lifted approximately at waist level with the lower hand (pulling hand).
~ Change: The lower hand goes up, about at eye level and becomes the print hand. The upper hand goes down and becomes the pull hand and initiates the dive phase (catch), etc.
TIP
* The wing paddle is driven with (almost) straight arm. This requires special arm and supportive muscles (diagonal abdominal muscles). Until these have developed, switch between standard and wingpaddle
* In order to learn the forward thrust with the wing paddle as a rider, it is advisable to get suggestions from racing athletes from clubs and to practice continuously.

~ Dipping phase (catch): The paddle is dipped into the water as quietly as possible without any force.
Main pull phase (power phase): The upper hand pushes forward the lower hand (pull hand) leads the paddle past the boat. The main acceleration starts at about knee height.
~ Excavation: The paddle is lifted behind the hip with the lower hand (pulling hand).
~ Change: The lower hand goes up, about at eye level and becomes the print hand. The upper hand goes down and becomes the pull hand and initiates the dive phase (catch), etc.
TIP
* The Greenland paddle can be steep (hunting shot as in the video) also similar to a wing paddle drive.
* Properly executed the paddle stroke is noiseless.
* Paddling with a Greenland Paddle differs significantly from the other techniques. Driving slower than with a "normal" paddle is usually an indication of the wrong paddle technique ..
