Effective Front and Rear Lift Capacity of a Kubota B2261 Compact Tractor

The lifting capacity for a compact tractor is specified at the pivot. In practical situations these loads are not located at these pivot points but further away from the tractor. What is the effect of this lever arm? What is the increase in lifting capacity when the engine rpm is increased? And what is the effect of the position of the front loader on the lifting capacity?
These questions are dealt with in the first part of this video explaining the physics of the front loader hydraulic mechanical lifting mechanism.
In the second part the practical lifting capacity is tested by stepwise increasing the load on the front loader and rear 3-point hitch. In this section the practical load that can be lifted is measured and the corresponding value at the pivot points is compared with the specification from Kubota.

It's really interesting to see that you only gain 6% in lift capacity from idle to full RPM. It's not worth the "jerkiness" of controls, especially when using a backhoe! You make great videos, keep them coming!

Thanks! I also expected a larger number beforehand of the effect of the RPM. I prefer the smoother control at lower RPM as well. More videos will follow soon.

Well done! It is good to see a basic physics approach to the lift arm geometry. Reminds me of high school physic class applied to my real world of tractors. I was surprised to see even the 6% increase in lift capacity with the increase in RPMs. Do you think the hydraulic pump becomes more efficient at the higher RPMs?

Thanks! And yes I expect that the capacity of the hydraulic pump will increase at higher rpms that results in an increased hydraulic pressure in the cylinders. You can also witness this as an increase of the sensitivity (more nervous behavior) of the system when operating the joystick. The increase of 6% from idle to max was actually smaller than I expected based on the change in sensitivity.

Great Video! I have got the same traktor but I chose the MX C2 Loader. Your palletfork seems pretty heavy. I have never weighted mine but I can lift it up and carry it by hand. I have done that a couple of times.

Thanks. I made the pallet fork implement myself (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3LOhGqnlrhkb8U). I made it quite robust and selected long and strong forks. Because I typically use it to transport large things, where the size is generally more critical then the weight. You have quite a lightweight construction then carrying it by hand?
