Exactly like ippon seoi nage or morote seoi nage. Karate is really about grappling with strikes, that's why I advise karate ka to practice judo and muay thai. They should also take some boxing lessons as well, maybe even savate for fluidity.

Nice vieo. I don´t practice the art, but I´ve seen a number of videos on how Katas deteriorated into a fancy dance and what they probably originally meant. It´s unfortunately a problem not just restricted to Karate. There´s way too much misinformation spread over the generations. Thank you for clearing things up a little.

Can you explain to me why capoeira hid their fight moves in dance techniques?
@edi9892

@@Payote88 I can't remember mentioning Capoeira, but there it's the same as for Gatka (India) or some forms of Kongfu. Whoever governed the people back then didn't want them practicing martial arts, be it as they feared rebellion, or simply wanted to crush their culture. Thus, people practiced in secret, and some got away by framing the moves as dance, or something similar...

@@edi9892 why do you think Funikoshi had to wake up in the early morning hours and travel in secret to train karate in Japan at the time?
