In the context of electrons in semiconductor materials, negative effective mass occurs when the curvature of the energy bands in the material is such that the effective mass of an electron is negative at certain points in the band structure. Equation of effective mass has never been asked. If it will be asked in exam then you can write about Effective mass of Electron. As in both topics m star (Effective mass of electron) valu is derived. So don't worry. You may get full marks. Thank you dear.
