Different types of bacteria have distinct requirements as to the temperature at which they will grow. The lowest temperature at which the species will grow is called minimum growth temperature and the highest temperature at which growth is possible to occur is called maximum growth temperature. The best growth takes place within a rather limited range called the optimum growth temperature and is best correlated with the temperature of the normal habitat of the microorganism. For example, the optimum temperature for the growth of microorganisms pathogenic for warm-blooded animals is near that of the body temperature, or 37ºC.
In this experiment, organisms will be exposed to different temperatures to see if their growth will be permitted. The organisms will be incubated at 6 degrees Celsius (Refrigerator), 22 degrees Celsius (Room Temperature), and 37 degrees Celsius (Incubator).
The turbidity of each nutrient broth will be checked to interpret the growth of organisms.
