I started with the STR8 Ultralite in the XS size for the driver but I find the STR8 Tour XS at 83gm a better fit due to the -slight- counter balancing and allowing me to increase the MOI in my Stealth2+ driver. Right now it's at D0 swing weight. However, I am switching to the STR8 Wrap XS because I am just wearing out the top of the grip with my right thumb. I guess I have too much movement there. However, I think the real strength of these JumboMax grips are with the chipping and pitching wedges, the larger size seem to give me more control of the wedge head for those delicate shots - dunked many chips for Eagles and Birds and a ton of Par saves. Nice on JumboMax and also GR8 testing video EFG 👍👍👍 ps always use air to blow these grips on or off, never solvent/tape

Interesting! spent the last couple of years trying out grips. Started with +4 then +4 midsize then jumbo. What I found odd is that I like different size grips in the bag. Jumbo from driver and woods to 2i, midsize on the irons 5 to PW and standard on the wedges.
@krusher74 Жыл бұрын
I play +4 on everything but my driver and midsize on that. I measure handwize as being astandard grip player but i find standard very small for the bottom hand in use.
I have been playing the Jumbo Max for about a year now. Tested both the Tour Series and Ultralite (with Jumbo Max's two grip trial offer) before settling on a which to game. I chose the Ultralite Extra Small (XS) in the end and have been playing it ever since. My initial Grip selector experience had me in the Medium size, didn't feel right with the medium, went back to the selector and it put me in the small size, played small for a few rounds and things still were not feeling right. So, went back to the selector and by changing grip pressure on the selector came up with a recommended size of XS. Things clicked and I installed the XS Ultralite on all 13 clubs. Needed a little work with the wedges to get comfortable, but am comfortable at this time. I had elbow problems with standard grips and needed elbow supports (straps) on each elbow. With the Jumbo Max grips, those problems have completely been eliminated. I recommended the Jumbo Max to my brother, whose elbow problems were so bad he stopped playing golf for several months. After physical therapy, he resumed playing with the Jumbo Max grips. He has not had any elbow problems to date. I adapted to the grips rather quickly. If you game more than a couple Jumbo Max Grips a standard size golf bag (Carry Bag) is a problem for getting clubs into and out of the bag. I ended up getting a bigger bag. The grips have held up well. I play 100+ rounds a year and have not replaced a grip yet for wear. I have changed grips in the past on a regular basis, usually yearly just because of wear and slickness. I was gaming the Winn Dri-Tec previously and changed the Driver grip every 3 mos and the rest every 6 mos due to wear. The Ultralite label only applies to the Jumbo Max grips as the weight is close to the weight of a standard golf grip, their Tour Series grips weigh around 40-50 gms more than a standard golf grip. Retief Goosen plays the Tour Series grips on the Champions Tour. I tired to get him talking about them at a Champions Tour event, but he didn't have much to say.

I have been using Jumbo XL Ultralite for years, I have biggish hands and some arthritis, I couldn't play without these grips, only downside is they wear out VERY quickly. Never understood the oft repeated argument about the larger grip restricting wrist movement. Try moving your hand open and try moving it in a fist, it has a much greater range of motion when open. If you want to get someone to release their grip on an object, you bend their wrist, it opens the hand, so I would argue the opposite is true!

Been indoor with the Jumbo Max Medium on all clubs. What i really like is that there isn't any wiggling around in my hand, standard golf grips do not make sense to me after using these. If anything it will shorten your swing a little and for me anyway, i found it easier to hit a draw where as before with standard size if i try to hit a draw it would just be a snap hook. If you have a hook, i think it's a no-brainer. If you want to hit fades, just don't try to draw it, and for me anyway it's more of a cut if i just leave the face open.

You should definitely try the jumbo ultralight large or medium. They are only 47g and the result is much more clubhead feel for me. More control, more feel, more power, more consistent fairways, everything is better. I have also put them on my wedges. Logic and reality is, if you want more feel use a bigger grip, which is exactly what you do with your putter
@petegalindez996111 ай бұрын
Interesting test…It’s really hard to tell without more detailed testing exactly what causes the changes/improvement…is it the size, the weight, or both? You didn’t really post what the relative weights were to the standard grip he normally uses (standard tour velvet at 49.5g?), unless I missed it. I think the best way to do the test is once you find the one that is the best, compare it to your standard grip and make the weights the same in order to normalize them and take weight out of it to see if it’s the size that is the cause of the improvement…

I am working on a set for my dad and he wants to put jumbo max ultra lite Small grips on which are 48g compared to the ones on now that are 58g. Swingweight with the original grip is D3 and will now be approximately D5 with the 10g lighter grip. Should I add 10g counter weights at the top of the shaft to compensate for the grip difference? This will make the total weight the same as before so its not just making the club heavier but not sure if its worth the effort.
@EFGMC9 ай бұрын
Ideally I would want him to try it both ways to see what is better for him. Going to larger oversize grips I find can sometimes negate the heavy head feel for some reason. Maybe more surface area? Not sure. If his current grips are similar size than maybe add weight, if they are bigger than original then maybe not.
