My initial impressions from eFootball v4.0.0 (2025): Pros: The game has added a lot of new animations, and the variety is impressive. There are also intricate details, like slight ball touches to get better positioning, which you might miss without a closer look. Overall, the gameplay feels much more fluid. The skating effect is less noticeable, and player movement feels more grounded, with better foot planting during actions. FUMA is now playable! In the 2024 iteration, ground passes often flew past the player, but now close ground passes are more precise, and FUMA shooting feels much improved. The graphics have taken a step up, especially in terms of goal nets and pitch textures. Cons: Unfortunately, the game still seems to be designed with a "mobile-first" mindset. It feels like most gameplay decisions are made to cater to casual mobile users. I’m not saying that’s entirely bad, but there should be an option for a more realistic experience through settings. Ball physics have changed for the better, but the ball still feels too light. It moves across the pitch too easily, and even slow passes don’t decelerate naturally, which impacts realism. Left Stick Dribbling is overpowered and needs to be nerfed for the game to feel anywhere close to realistic. Defending feels too automated, which takes away the challenge and skill required to stop attacks. Fouls are too limited, and there aren’t enough realistic ways to stop the opposition from progressing. This makes the game feel more like classic FIFA Ultimate Team-there’s hardly any midfield play, just back-and-forth attacking. Overall, I still believe PES 2021 remains by far the most realistic football simulation on the market, especially with the gameplay mods.
