Very creative. Very cool. A reminder of the of potential in kids. What inspired leadership. Hats off to Rafe, to all the kids who put their heart and soul into this, and to everyone involved for their hard work.

Does the crying for joy this brings, cause action? Makes cowards of us all....maybe Zimbardo's Hero training will help.... I thought I could imagine the joy when I saw our son perform...but it's nothing like the reality of seeing him perform...Now I really know what the parents of these children must feel. Is it only me that dreads the start of school?

The majority of these kids are Korean. It's still great to see the kids performing at this level but Koreans are not an under-served community by any means. LA's Korean Immigrant Community is like a country within a country. Korean owned banks, businesses of all kinds, grocery stores you name it. If you showed more Mexican or Latin immigrant students or students from our other very undeserved LA communities it would seem much more impressive. The Korean kids are coming from a very well established and supportive community with many intact families. The remarks about the demographics of the school community are misleading. Rafe Esquith is still a great teacher and I'm sure many of the Korean families have left the school now that he is gone.

this seems forced, and when the kids aren't enjoying the experience, then there is no use explaining. I'm very disappointed.
