@EgbaAlake cont, a lot things were imposed on us, some are good and some are bad. I love and appreciate my adopted country but my country of origin is my root and that's what made me...

@EgbaAlake You know something I saw recently, and this is why it's important you keep you keep and maintain your tradition, I have seen on telly here where people travelled from all over the world to witness and watch festivals like Argugu, Osun Osogbo, etc. That in my opnion, makes a strong business case for keeping and promoting our own stuff.

@EgbaAlake yes, we have to start shaping our own world. If we don't we'll continue to be second class citizens all over the world. We have the likes of Obey, Sunny Ade, Fela, etc..cant even capitalise on people these talents. "Fela" the musical was made in the US, then imported to Nigeria? If there were efforts in Nigeria to preserve the talents of people like that it won't worry me Not that anything is wrong with that.

@EgbaAlake cont..I know when some ppl read about Odu Ifa, they probably would say ..Jeezz.. i won't learn that.. the question I would ask them first is if they knew that the most widely read version of bible, King James was written the same time they were flogging off our ancesters off the coast sof Africa like commodities.

@EgbaAlake #3, it's important to keep, maintain and preserve our culture, every country have its tradition. For example, I was listening to programme on telly few years back, the narator said the Queen did a "ritual, according the tradition and in line with her ancestors..".that hit me a lot. I thought, I can't even recite my own penegyric, if you like ORIKI?! We don't know ODU IFA, SANGO, OYA, OSUN SAME GOES TO THE IGBOS AND HAUSAS nobody cares...cont....

@EgbaAlake Thank you too. I am interested in hearing the perspectives of ILUMODE and others. It would be interesting to hear everyone.

@EgbaAlake of course, this is not about being sentimental or nationalistic, it's the fact! Saying it doesn't mean you despite them. You're right, the world's powers and influences is concentrated around the west and America, giving the west and America clout over every thing, political or cultural. E.g UN Security Council

@EgbaAlake thanks for your question. I have several reasons: #1: I appreciate and value this music because they make us unique and if you are unique you can sell yourself better to others. #2 Having seen the way the world operates, every country, especially the developed ones, they have one interest, promote their interests and denegrate yours. And when they promote yours, it's also an attempt to polish theirs. Cont..

@jahslove1 your attack on fuji is unfair to the memory of the late legend Alhaji Sikiru Ayinde Barrister who tried his best to transform fuji from mere Ramadan period music 2 one of d most popular music in Nigeria today, providing jobs 4 thousands. Artist reproduce good music from time to time, I've heard some of yusufu Olatunji song in Haruno Ishola' record, and late Omowura sometimes picks good verse from Baba ngani, late Barrister used d same tactic and the result is fuji. RIP Agbaje dedeigbo
