Razor still has 3 years before the would cup so no need to rush. A northern tour is a different beast so to have those guys there just give some young guys more experience.

My question is who else would we take? The only 2 players in the squad that won't make the World Cup are TJ and Sam. All the rest will be available (unless they decide to go overseas). TJ and Sam add 188 caps of experience to the side, and they won't necessarily play, but they will mentor the younger players. Exactly what is needed..... Next year we will have Samisoni and the return of Leister Fainganuku...... and likely a couple of other bolters that will put their hands up. This season, we have seen the Rise of Wallace Sititi, the rise of Cortez Ratima, and the coming of age of Tupo Vaii, The reinvention of Caleb Clarke, Cody Taylor has really found his straps and we have blooded 2 MASSIVE young athletic props. Our team is building and starting to show signs of what it can be.. let's hold the knives until next season, maybe? BTW, when he is fit and healthy, can you imagine running on Samisone, Tosii, and Tamiti all at the same time off the bench? They would have to be the biggest front row of all time! SA has a bomb squad. They would be the BOOM squad!!

Our 10s, 12 and 13. Are all fullbacks and wings. I would have Harman 10, alb 12 proctor, waiting for Goodhue to return. We have to get a functioning midfield, it's our major weakness. I wouldn't mind losing if we were blooding a new midfield , but I am criticising Razor for being two Conservative. We want Dmac, Beaudy, Jordie, and Reiko in.our squad because they are great ball players but we can't do that, we are playing them out of position. I don't rate papalii, but I rate Laki less. I don't mind Cane and Perenara going but they shouldn't play

Dmac is an impact player. Jordy played 12 for most of his footy carrer he became a 15 at pro level but prefers 12, our (arguably) best 2 13's ever were initially wingers. No one liked McCaw in 2007 either.... @@joedennehy386

I've sided with Razor for a while, and I agree with you on the experience side of things. You can't replace 80 to 100 caps worth of experience, plus there's some settled combos (Beaudy + TJ, Ardie + Cane). However, my one major criticism is that Razor's use of the new guys is VERY haphazard. Proctor played a great game and never saw another minute. Sititi would never have been given his extended run without Blackadders injury. My main concern is Razors player management.

Hi guys,Tim I would make a few changes at #9 C Ratima 21 Cam Roigard # 20 Ethan Blackadder. -2 players that have been in the set up for a while L Jacobson and Dalton Papali'i and doesn't bring the desired impact off the bench or when they're playing. Unfortunately doesn't seem that the ABs currently has better.

Having said that, also as a Bok fan, you look at that tight 5 and the penny drops that those are the only players they appear to have. Watch Super Rugby as much as I do, I cannot think of another lock or prop who could comfortably challenge any of those players for a spot. Easy as a SAFFA to look at the alleged frailties of another team's tight 5, but they are coming up against three teams who have got good cohesive forward packs and who have beaten the All Blacks when able to play to those strengths. SR is killing the AB brand because there simply is no need for a cohesive forward pack we when you consider the opposition they play against.

The selection is less conservative when you understand that the All Blacks XV team is also touring at the same time with another 29 players to call on. For me, I felt it was time to move on from Cane and Perenara although they may yet not play in some big matches and are there mainly for mentorship. Personally, I hope they take an opportunity to re-arrange their all important loose forward/halfback mix. If Cane wasn’t there, then I’d pick Lakai. They need to fix their impact from the bench, as highlighted in the Rugby Championship. The infusion of a player like Roigard may do exactly this. If the team are ‘on par’ for form, they may drop a match result (probably against Ireland). If they lose more than this, it will be considered an unsuccessful year. If they go home undefeated - then the heads in NZ will lift considerably.

Not always true. Sometimes players are selected due to what they used to offer to the team, not the form they are currently in. I can't agree completely Tim...TJ I think has run out of time and is a shadow of the player he was a couple of years back. Personally I've never been much of a Sam Cane fan and felt he just wasn't as good as he was made out to be. Have to say that this is probably the most mediocre set of locks I think I've ever seen in an AB squad in my lifetime. All in all I think the current crop of players available to the AB's are some of the weakest I've seen in the last 20 years. Don't get me wrong...none of them are bad players...but compared to the world class players that took the field in the not too distant past for them - this lot pale in comparison.

I liked the selection of TJ at the start of the internationals, has he proven to bring anything but bad habits and slow delivery since his selection this year though? David Havili with a horendous season this year and hasn't had a good season in 3+ years. Cantabury old boys trump all. The one good thing in the squad skipped over is Ruben Love who should have been selected on form this year if they weren't saving the slot for Will Jordan and selecting 3 one dimensional wings. I think Aumua and Finau did their level best to play themselves out of their positions so far this year.

As a neutral South African (just my opinion !), I'd say I'd need to at least see the following names on the ABs team sheet to start feeling worried : Cam Roigard (good, he's back, bloody dangerous player !) / Ardie moving to 7 & Sititi to Nr 8 / Change your rules, you need Frizell at 6. Find some locks with mongrel, the current guys are just place-fillers. Codie is dangerous, but just like SA's hookers, he's getting long in the tooth. As is Sam Cane & TJP, say good-bye to them already - you do have better players. I don't understand Razor's mindset re looking ahead. For the ABs to generate trepidation again, you need to take some risks, and give better / younger players a run. As of right now, that team is good, but not great, compared to previous AB teams.
@nanderton935414 сағат бұрын
"Find some locks with mongrel" ha, ha, we just don't produce locks like SA can, well not tall enough anyway. Maybe we should raid your stock. Pay for them to come to NZ, lots of SA's do. As for the rest of the team, a couple of things. Winning is important to the AB's and New Zealand. You build a winning culture by winning. Second, there has already been massive turnover in the AB's. I count 7 forwards and 10 backs that can provide an experienced core. I am defining this as starters with 20+ caps. If this team goes undefeated there will be plenty of trepidation generated in world rugby that the AB's are back.
@maaifoediedelarey4335Сағат бұрын
@@nanderton9354 No offense was intended - your view is a valid one, especially when you've had a couple of unwanted losses (SA have been there, and yes, it probably is important to get back on the winning track, before making changes for the bigger picture - so I take your point there). As to AB lock - hell, you've had some pit bulls there in the past, make no mistake - fast off the top of my head, Brody R, Ali W, Brad T, Andy H and all the way back to Colin Meads when I was still in primary school (I still remember a pic of him grinning, with a sheep under his arm !). The ABs have pretty much also been part of SA rugby culture, as the main yardstick against which to measure. I'm thinking rugby is cyclical, like most things - soon SA will also be short of mongrel locks - Eben E can't play forever, and there's in fact no one, in that specific Nr 4 mold in SA. that are putting their hand up. One might even argue that Ireland right now, at least for the immediate future, may have the best lock pairing, but they also won't be around for much longer.

Seems a very conservative squad. Was a real opportunity for ABs to really deepen their squad against the top 5 nations. ABs will be a good team whatever happens but I think this was an opportunity missed.

Should have taken more newbies to gain experience and write the losses off as a new team gaining experience and caps. Now when he loses he'll use the usual excuses for bad performances

When Razor lost to the current RWC champions just a few matches into having the job, NZ media already started having small fits ... now you want him risk losing to teams on the tour up north. Clearly you aren't reading the room or understanding the NZ media / fan expectations ...
@TheBuildKingR20 сағат бұрын

@@LittleBigMediaCo it's not like they are playing dominant rugby. They're reacting to whatever they did wrong the previous game, but if you have been watching rugby for more than 5 years you would know that and if you have the ability to take off that NZ bias you would know that too. I guess the hype Razor brought when he was announced coach has been underwhelming and now it's looking for excuses because NZ isn't that relevant anymore.

@@AM-dj1wr what “rude awakening”? The Boks won the RWC, the ABs won both tests against England and Wales couldn’t even get a win against Australia, ffs. Only France and Ireland won a game on the recent tours. SH fans have this massive chip on their shoulder where they think NH fans constantly write them off… which is complete nonsense. Go ask any fan in the 6N and they will tell you how much respect they have for the boks and the ABs (the Wallabies not so much these days, true). But… it’s totally reasonable to a) back your team and b) make a perfectly good argument that Ireland are probably gonna win against the ABs.

There is no change here as you point out. There is a good chance they loose against England, Ireland and France.

They're a far more in sync team than the one who played against, & beat England a few months ago right at the beginning of all the changes ... explain your pessimism?
@W0nderer20 сағат бұрын
@@LittleBigMediaCo Sure... 1) They can't decide on their back three. Ardie's playing 8 but many pundits agree he's not an 8 and does not give them the grunt they need at 8. 2) They're unsure of what to do at halfback. They're flicking around between players there and they're not getting answers. Dmac is not proving to be the answer at 10 and they can't decide how best to utilise Beauden. 3) They can't decide on their best wing and fullback options. Clarke is perhaps their only set starter if he is fit and Jordan has bounced between fullback and the wing. 4) Their bench is really weak. 5) They only scored in the last 20 minutes on one occasion in the rugby championship, not sure about against England. They have a real problem not losing energy at the end. 6) They were unconvincing against England and will not play them at home, which will be harder. 7) Ireland will be looking for revenge from the RWC and play them at home and will have their tails up after drawing with the Boks mid year. 8) Its the start of the international season for Northern Hemisphere sides so they will be fresh. 9) They had a coaching stir with McDonald leaving, it will be interesting to see how clear they are on the field as they clearly weren't doing well to execute strategy on the field in Rugby Championship. 10) Barring injury, do they really go with the likes of Perenara and Cane, given they have to start building for the future. Less experience on the field will put them at greater risk though. 11) The All Black aura has gone and their opposition will be looking to cash in. 12) Roberston looks unsure in front of the media. It will be interesting to see whether he's able to use the time off well to create some focus in that team. Not saying I'm right, just giving my opinion.
