IMO so many aspects of this installation are impressively well designed- especially the fuel system with its very efficient, low-amp-draw fuel pumps and header tanks. I’m intrigued by all such tanks that Viking has designed but I don’t recognize these. Were they sourced from somewhere else?

Is this a turbo normalizer? Meaning does the motor make 195hp without the turbo, and the turbo is just used to to augment for elevation as you get higher? Has anybody been interested in doing this motor in a sling TSI or HW?
@iskess
@iskess 2 жыл бұрын
@Viking Aircraft Engines. You never answered Tim Duncan’s questions. Please tell us about the turbo performance of the 195T at altitude. At what altitude will the horsepower start to drop off? Is it all boost for HP, is there excess boost to accommodate higher altitudes? How will this automotive turbo charger perform at altitudes it wasn’t designed for? Is there a concern about compressor stalls?

Watch some of our Viking Talks videos, they are explained in them. The gist of it is, we don't run the blowby back into the engine as required by the EPA in cars, it runs overboard and we also don't do low RPMS - we are able to get all the benefits our of the engines, without the cons (we currently have about 1000 hours on our personally owned setp)

Viking overs several great propeller options. Why did the customer choose your 5 blade?
@eggenfellner
@eggenfellner 3 жыл бұрын
We only have two proven propellers that work well with our 195T because of the HP, the DUC in both variable pitch and ground adjustable and the LUGA 3 Blade. The DUC is a bit more $, but gets better cruise speeds and is smoother. The LUGA offers more thrust, good for STOL. The DUC on here is a variable pitch, which is the only brand we offer in conjunction with our variable pitch setup, and it is pretty amazing, will be perfect!
@yavoz.
@yavoz. 3 жыл бұрын
@@eggenfellner thank you that's some great information. I've been trying to get more information on the DUC variable pitch propeller controller. It would be great if Viking would create a video describing the operation of the DUC controller. Your videos are outstanding so I believe you would make a great video.
@eggenfellner
@eggenfellner 3 жыл бұрын
We have everything on the Variable pitch a bit more in-depth on our website under "performance" that being said we use either a switch or a new controller we are testing. The controller isn't a DUC product.

We have done our 130 and 150 engine in the Kitfox, but aren't they putting a continental large motor in the Kitfox 7 too? If so, this comes in slightly under that weight installed. Ideally though the 130/150 is best suited with a variable pitch propeller.

@@eggenfellner it’s actually a legal requirement in most countries. Also icing and or blockage can occur at any time of year anywhere. It’s dependant on altitude and other atmospheric conditions. It is very irresponsible to not include it and opens you to liability.

Maybe in certified world, I can't think of a single experimental engine/aircraft that has it out of the 1000 we have out or any others. It is their aircraft and their choice. In no way shape or form is it irresponsible nor is liability a factor.
