I was born in ‘83’ and I just researched that this song was released in ‘82’. I remember being really young singing this song yet never quite understanding the lyrics. I’m 36 years old now with two children, going through a separation with a man who’s been repeatedly cheating on me. This song, now years later gives me strength while moving on. Thanks Whitesnake for your inspiration!

I have grown up with this song since the 80's when I myself was a glam rocker...Never ever put thought into the lyrics. At 54 and after 8 long years of a desert walk with no real lit path, this song resonates like no other... Hangin on the promises in the songs of yesterday..going down the only road I have ever known ..wow! For you 50 + folk out there...you know what this symbolizes. I am sure through these challenging times, this song will resonate with many many others out there...Life is a cunning bitch.

One time I went to see this Rock and Roll cover band at a motorcycle venue, and when they played this song, there was a man and his wife in front of me that were slow dancing at the beginning, and then once the chorus hit they went even more wild than everyone else. They sang every word together while looking into each other's eyes. It's definitely one of the sweetest things I've ever seen ❤

I was driving yesterday and happened to hear this song on the radio. I didn't like it when it 1st came out but it is so different when you listen to the lyrics. It is truly a great song.

I am 23 years old and I grew up listening to this song bc my parents played it a lot. The older I got the more this song means to me. My friends think I’m weird bc this is the music I listen to lol

lol, they don't get it. This song has a deep meaning not only about love but also the spirit of life and never giving up, I am only 21 years old, I prefer to listen to this song to music now, especially k-pop music. I prefer songs that have a deep meaning or meaning that makes you passionate in life and never give up, and I think that's real music...

Same. Literally this week has been a mess. This song really helps calm my anxiety. I did everything for her. And I still love her. Cutting off communication is so hard. I just wanted her to love me the way I loved her. It’s sucks. Probably listened to this on repeat 100 times.

This song is so cornily 80's lol it reminds me of my uncle who was a teenager in the 80's an he was a huge hair band fan....but unfortunately the 80's party scene grabbed ahold of him an never let go... he's still alive but he just can't get it together ya know...he's the uncle if we buy the beer hell grill the food an be the life of the party....but this song particularly gets me sad wen I hear it an think about him bcuz it's literally him....has nothing but loves life an a heart of gold ya know
