Welcome to TroutStrike! In this video, I'll show you how to tie the incredibly effective Eggstacy Egg fly, perfect for trout fishing, especially during the spawn. This simple yet highly productive pattern is a must-have in any angler's fly box.
Why Trout Love Eggstacy Eggs:
During spawning season, trout are known to consume their own eggs and those of other trout. These nutrient-rich eggs are irresistible due to their appearance, texture, and scent. In colder water temperatures, trout's metabolism slows, making these stationary, easy-to-catch eggs a favored target.
Materials Needed:
Hook: Jig style hook (size 14)
Bead: Slotted tungsten bead (2.4 mm, 2.8 mm, or 3.2 mm)
Thread: Your choice
Body: Eggstacy Yarn

💡 Tying the Eggstacy Egg:
Select a jig style hook and a slotted tungsten bead.
Make several thread wraps starting behind the bead down to the hook bend.
Tie in a piece of Eggstacy Yarn and wrap it up to the bead.
Secure the yarn with a few whip finishes, and your Eggstacy Egg is ready!

Gear for Euro Nymphing in Winter:
Rod: 10 foot, 3-weight
Reel: Oversized reel
Line: Euro nymphing line
In winter, I prefer euro nymphing over a mono-rig setup due to the better feel of the euro line in cold conditions. The Eggstacy Egg works exceptionally well in deep, slow-moving water where trout are looking for an easy meal.
Fishing Tips:
Use varying weights of tungsten beads for different water depths.
Euro nymphing setup allows for precise control and effective presentation in cold weather.

I don’t think the trout will care! I think they take them for egg clusters anyway which aren’t perfectly round.
