Thanks, make sure you contrast it with Rococo... the period this style is reacting to.

Very good video I want to be able to learn to replicate this kind of style for myself and this helped me understand some very specific things to study like geometric art, rigidity, heavy symbolism (though that can be said about a lot of styles 😆), and hardening back to Greco-Roman styles.

is the painting Helen Recognizing Telemachus by Jean-Jacques Lagrenée also neoclassical art?
@artedguru3 жыл бұрын
Why do you doubt it? ;-) What part of Helen breaks the rules? Check the date too, that is a HUGE hint. As a teacher I don't like to "give" answers but help students "discover" the answers.

@@artedguru it was painted during the height of neoclassicism. The subject matter, the tight/clean brushstrokes and the sober colours make it very much neoclassical. What do you mean with what part of Helen breaks the rule?

Can be noted that the version of the American flag in Washington Crosses the Delaware is historically incorrect. Should be the Grand Union Flag for that painting’s time period.

Unlike polyptychs, the narrative here is contained in a single frame. Something here reminds me of street murals.

I’m sorry, but I’m dying from the fact that somebody called this art “emo”
