Collecting your feet in preparation for the next figure is part of the figure. Isolating figures like this is enough of a distortion of a continuous art form without cutting off the follow-through.

You confusing International Style & American Bronze Foxtrot. In American Bronze (Social) you close your feet at the end of every figure. International Foxtrot is different.
