Bought the saw for $249.00, providing a second battery for my leaf blower. New battery alone is $220.00, it's like getting the saw for $30.00!

Just bought one from Amazon and used it yesterday to work a 10-inch crabapple tree into firewood. The chainsaw is a top notch product that's perfect for light usage in my 2-acre garden.

Anyone having problems with the chain coming off make sure to continually check the tension and adjust as needed, also keep the chain sharp. There are too many using this saw correctly and not having issues without me thinking these issues have to be mostly user related and not a problem with the equipment. My Husqvarna chainsaw chain loosens up so often and has to be adjusted that it became a PITA...the EGO you simply turn the tension knob on the side. No tools...no loosening nuts and using a screw driver to set the tension then re tightening the nuts. Very easy to use and maintain tools all the way around.

I was skeptical about going to battery power until I bought a EGO mower a few years ago. If you're a residential homeowner like me and do not have a very large lot battery is definitely a great option. I was so pleased with the mower that I decided to try the EGO weedeater and was surprised how well it works and how powerful it is. Next came the EGO blower...another great tool with plenty of power and runtime for my needs. I just ordered the 16" chainsaw and I imagine it will be as good as my other EGO tools. It's really nice not to have to deal with the fuel and sometimes hard starting of the gas equipment. Of course my residential lot is only 1/3 acre so if you have a large lot or acreage, or use your equipment for commercial purposes as in a yard maintenance business I can see the necessity of having gas equipment. My lot's so small that I don't need a riding mower...but I'm liking these EGO products so much that I'm considering getting one anyway...lol.

Very fine; I know to go corded for my purposes thanks to your excellent info. Half hour of usage won't work for me, or even a bit more with a larger amp/hour battery still a no go for my purposes. Thank you.

Glad it helped! I have 5 EGO batteries, so I can cut for quite a while before running out of power, but I can understand how that may not be enough.

It's actually quite manageable with the battery, I would guess it weighs about 10lbs with the battery attached. The battery alone is about 3lbs. It's got a alot of power, if you've used other chainsaws then it would be similar to a gas powered chainsaw in power. Friends and family are always great as well to help with chainsaw projects!

I am a 50 yr woman who uses this tool. I won't call it Heavy if you are used to working with tools. With a regular sized battery, the weight is manageable. What I dislike about the tool is it's chain that keeps falling off even with good tension.

does the battery get hot after using it? i was wanting to us the saw when we go riding our side by side for when we encounter a down tree on the trail so after cutting the tree i would need to put the saw back in a waterproof bag to continue riding and want to make sure it does not melt the bag or other items it may rest by. thanks for your video it is very helpful in deciding if this would be good for us.

These batteries do get a little hot. I don't think it would melt the bag (not sure what the bag material is). However, can confirm as with most ego items with full use, it definitely gives off a little bit of heat.

Have you had any problems with lack of oil getting on chain? I've read lots of bad reviews about that with this saw.

I have not had any problems with lack of oil on the chain. I have been very happy with this chainsaw.

I’ve been researching cordless chainsaws the last week and came upon people talking about this issue, people mention the fact that bar oil is thick and thins due to engine heat making it easier to get dispersed onto the bar on a gas chainsaw. Where you don’t have that extra heat on a electric. Maybe they make a cordless specific oil for this.

I've never had problems with delivery unless I let the reservoir level get too low. You do need to keep the orifice clean so the oil cab be delivered at the normal rate. I've just started using Ryobi 'biodegradable' bar oil, will be interesting to see if there are any differences in oil delivery.

I love this saw, but I tried to tighten the chain and the large green adjustment knob will not turn. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. The saw is not old. I have used it twice;

You have to loosen the larger knob, then adjust the tension, then retighten the larger knob.

Hi, I purchased this chainsaw and used it twice already. In the third use I noticed the bar chain oil reducing much quicker than previous uses. It ran out before the battery charge did. Is that normal for the bar and chain oil to empty quickly ?

​@@Mattlawton-ft6ew It's an automatic oiler. There is no way to "turn it down." The rate of oil delivery to the bar/chain is probably related to motor rpm. So, if you do lots of cutting at high rpm, I would expect more bar oil to to be used "per battery."

Are the EGO CS1611,1604 and 1613 all the same saw but just different battery sizes?

No. The 1610 / 11 / 13 (depends on battery) is the new model. Runs at the same rpm or 20m/s like the larger 18" Ego. The older 1600 /04 is not as powerful.

This is a fair and honest review, as you did mention how this sucks battery power dry. There are two things I would never buy battery operated: 1) chainsaw 2) blower Unless I was an old lady using the saw for pruning small trees and large shrubs, and the blower only for my front porch.

I have a 6 acre property with tons of concrete and trees. I love my ego blower and saw. Maybe not for commercial use, but for a property owner battery tools make better sense.

Well I'm not an old lady, but I am an old man (sheesh). I would never buy another gas/oil chainsaw, blower, string trimmer, or brush cutter, unless I suddenly wanted to deal with Gas and Oil, and pull starting, and not starting and all the other problems that plague occasional users of these items. I have plenty of batteries in the EGO system ranging from 2.5 to 5 Ah. This way I can tailor the battery weight to the tool and job. I cut up a 50+ ft tall oak that blew down with max diameter of 25 inches. With 2 batteries (back then), I gave out before I ran out of battery. With 3 or more batteries, I could cut all day if I keep 1 charging. And I LOVE not having to worry about whether it will start, do I have enough gas, why is it stalling, etc. So much less maintenance and related headaches! The EGO tools JUST WORK.

Beware, Ego's "warranty" is a useless scam. You take your tool back to place of purchase, and they send it out to local scam repair dudes who drum up a fake reason the repair isn't under warranty.

I would stay away from this saw. As a woman who loves to do her own things, I bought all electric tools for ease of use. My leaf blower, and string trimmer are from Ego so I decided to get this saw to take care of the tress. My mower and pole trimmer are from Greenworks but since I had a good experience with other Ego tools, I bought this saw. This saw is nothing but pain in the rear. The chain keeps coming off every few minutes even with good tension or when the job gets tougher. The blades on the chain aren't super sharp either. And yes, I used it with the Ego lubricant. My neighbor also fiddled with it but with no luck. I have spent so much time putting the chain back on that I ultimately got frustrated and outsourced the tree cutting job to professionals. It may be good for small jobs but not for heavy duty work.
