Let me know if you have any experience with the other tools EGO offers because I am considering adding at least one more item to my lawn care collection!

I have the lawn mower and it's awesome. I got the one with the speed adjustment in the middle of the handle. I love it. thinking about getting the trimmer and blower next. Nice video, thanks.

I LOVE my EGO self-propelled mower. I'm on year 3. I have a 5000 SFT Kentucky Bluegrass lawn. I got the larger battery, you'll be glad you did. In Summer, I get two mows off a single charge. Pros: No gae. No oil changes. No more stalling. No flooding. No air filter or sparks plugs. Little to no maintence. No more fumes. Also super quiet. Cons: 1. The mower under deck gunks up with thick lush, moist grass and requires frequent underdeck cleaning if you are bagging clippings. Less so if you are mulching. This is mainly an issue in spring. Summer and Fall in Maryland, gunking up is not an problem. (On the plua side, the mower turns easily on its side for grass clIpping cleaning.) It's a mi or hassle compared to all the other pluses. 2 While the cut for dry grass is even, thick lush spring KB grass may require some touch up cutting, BUT again, this con is minor. If you have tall fescue or zosia, dryer climate grasses, you may not experience cons 1 and 2. Finally, interchangeability of batteries comes in useful for big jobs or If you forgot to charge your main mower battery. I have the EGO leaf blower too (also top rated by Consumer Reports). I use the leaf blower all the time. I love it too, maybe more than the mower!

The only issue I have with the select cut is Wet grass likes to stick to the plastic deck. I've been using ego for the last 3 years and I have no intentions of going back to gas.

Bought one and it has a lot of vibration. Wondering if others experience this also or if I got a bad one?

My question is can anyone use generic replacement trimming line to feed in? What is so special about the EGO other than probably the appropriate max lenght to feed in pre cut?

I use generic but good quality line I found on amazon. I looked for high ratings and twisted line like the ego brand. As long as right diameter line, it should be fine.

I’m a short guy, and I LOVE this trimmer. The only complaint I have is that the directions suck. (I found this review because of David’s excellent tutorial on restringing this model. It covers 2 steps that the instructions left out.) I almost passed this one by because of the price tag and potential weight. The capable assistant at my local Lowe’s told me to compare prices of the brand that comes with a battery (Ego) and those that don’t (everyone else), and the Ego’s price was exactly in the middle of the others plus their battery. I have a neuromuscular condition that makes it difficult to hold up a gas trimmer and nearly impossible to get it running. I was hoping that the battery’s easy start would keep from sapping my strength enough to hold it up, and it has. I can cover my whole yard without rest. That alone was worth the extra $10 from the lower-priced one. The string loader makes it a no-brainer. Only the cheapest penny pincher would truly see this as a pricey option. There is more than enough value to justify the slightly higher cost, regardless of whether you own any other Ego products. I did use it to edge my yard, and it was okay, but it really isn’t designed for that. I sprung for the Ego edger, which comes without a battery, and I was able to finish trimming and edging on one charge with the two tools. My lost wrestling matches with an electric string trimmer I couldn’t restring and the gas trimmer I couldn’t start meant that I had 3 summers’ worth of overgrowth to trim and edge. These used to be the bane of my homecare existence, but now I actually can’t wait for the grass to grow so I can use these tools again.

I just bought mine yesterday and it has a variable throttle, not two speed. Maybe ur’s is different because this video is from 8 months ago but i think if you squeeze the throttle slowly you’ll see that it’s variable speed & not a 2 speed. I think it’s slowest speed is just over 4000 rpm & max’s out at 5800 rpm.

I have this trimmer as well, and I know that this is not a 2-speed, as EGO makes all of their trimmers variable speed.

Tip: it's easier to trim if you're standing on the grass, and walking backwards rather than on the sidewalk.
