I have the 18 . Thinking about this 20. Nice video

The two 20" saws from EGO are brutal! They are considerably more saw than the CS1804. Be sure that is what you want before diving in. That being said; as a hobbyist; I'm very glad I own both of them. Correction: when I said that I own both of them; I meant I own both TWENTY inch saws. What I DIDN'T make clear; is that I also own the CS1804. I can't help myself 😮

The CS2000 cuts about 20-25% faster than the CS1800 using the same chain. I have both. It's not a huge difference. But, the CS2000 revs much faster. Much faster. More like a gas saw. The CS1800 winds up slowly and that isn't so good for limbing. The CS2000 has a more traditional bar mounting and chain tensioning setup that I prefer over the CS1800. The CS2000 oiler puts out considerably more oil. The CS2000 puts more demand on batteries. You need a 6Ah battery or bigger to use it at max chain speed. The CS2000 is noticeably heavier. Now I want a lighter 16"-18" EGO saw that revs as quickly as the CS2000 and has normal bar nuts and chain tensioning.

I just bought the CS2000 and I like it but it is much heavier than my 1800.

@npp909 yeah, about 4lbs heavier. Tony Miller has a comparison video of the two. An eye-opening event to watch.

@@tonymiller3788 I fixed the lightweight issue by putting a 20" bar on my CS1800. (Oregon 200SXEA041). But I can't think of anything to do about the slow rev time. I guess it's just like needing glasses, or having diabetes; you get along fine in the world; you just have to make allowances. (Yes, I'm making excuses for the 1800.😂).

I get about 13 cuts through a 22" healthy oak before the battery shows red. Saw shows green, but the battery is warm. I'll be update on the charge time.

I agree with that; I've found the battery life isn't quite as long as I would have expected. I've got a quick video I'll put up soon on how to change the chain and I mention in it how quickly the 12.0ah battery I was using went on me.
@John-cj3veАй бұрын
...also; I haven't tried it; but I doubt very seriously if you could get very far with a 2.5ah battery in a CS2000. I tried one in one of my 1800s, and it got 2" into the log before the battery displayed the red circle of death.

...and ANOTHER thing 😊to close the gap in cutting times; you should have waited to start timing the 1800 until it had wound up to full speed before starting the clock. Something about the circuitry of the 1800 makes it take a long time to reach full speed. Also; the 2000 comes with a full chisel chain. I know you know that full chisel chains are available for the 1800s. I don't know if you had one of those chains on your 1800 or not when you were performing the test. Please retest those saws under those conditions and let us subscribers know when that video is available.

not on mine 6 amp is fine for full
@DanielGoodwin-jq1ocАй бұрын
I was thinking you needed to jump up to the 7.5ah to get full power, didn't realize there was a 6 amp battery. Good info!
@John-cj3veАй бұрын
I'm sure you've already discovered; but the reason that the speed doesn't go up all the way; is because the battery you're using is too small. Both the CS2000 and the CSX5000 require at least a 6ah minimum to reach top speed. I would know; I own both.😁

I am looking to buy a CSX 2005 and was wondering if that would be a big enough advantage over my 1804 ?
@John-cj3veАй бұрын
@kenroman777 I would caution you away from the CSX5000. It can be very temperamental regarding overheating problems with the battery and the saw itself. I think it is more of an extravagance, a hobbyist's saw, for unique situations. As far as power goes; it is leaps and bounds more powerful than the 1804. A saw that is a lot more powerful than the 1804; but more manageable; would be the CS2005. And here I'm speaking from experience; as I have both.

I hate seeing videos like this as you are teaching bad habits..where is your eyeprotection?

That's a good point, thanks for bringing it up! I do have eye protection that I wear often but you're absolutely right, I didn't here and that's bad form and a poor example.
