The electric mowers are great for those smaller yards. The guy I got my micro car from actually bought an electric mower back in the 70s. Still uses it today. It’s pretty cool.

Only problem: Those 10ah batts cost $500 CURRENTLY. So if they start losing their charge holding capacities outside of the 4 (5?) year warranty that's the REAL bullet you're facing. I'd like to know whether that warranty contains pro rating or some other out for Ego to escape replacement obligations. But outside of the warranty period you could be shelling out $1500 at a minimum to replace just the 3 you used in this video. That said I'd still love to own one of these battery powered units but I've got some fairly serious slopes so the Cub Cadet ZTS1 with 4 wheel steerage is likely my next lawn mower.

I figure I pay less than 10cents at 5 cents a kwh & charger rated 1600watts 1hr roughly to charge for my 1 acre. No oil changes, no belts, no air filter, no fuel filter, quiet, no sacrificing blade speed & mowing speed or power for tall grass. What's not to like? Cost, sliding on hills, feeling like you're on the clock with battery vs gasoline (I recommend 52" for 1 acre with any hills/breaks in the land, obstacles, I'd like to upgrade...kinda late though). If mine was square & flat that would be fine, I added 2 extra batteries, nearly same price as 52" once bought separately. I literally shouldn't of cut corners on price for needs, but didn't expect batteries to drain so low on the initial 4, I bought extra to better balance the load & hopefully expand lifespan of the batteries.

I have the property to put one to use and there are almost no downsides to them other than the initial cost which is insane. Dealing with the storage of fuel, finding ethanol free fuel, gummy carbs, belts, noise etc are all enough to consider one… if you could finance it like a car lol. And if you could keep a solar charger on it, you’d probably have enough time between cuts to basically keep it charged for free. Interesting. BTW, need recommendations on a DS series cart upgraded motor if you could contact me. Thanks! Great content as always!

I like battery lawn equipment .All mine is Battery right now. But its a small lot. I'm moving and the lot its huge compared to what I have now. As these lawnmowers go up in size they more then triple the price. This Ego Z6 looks great but for that price I can get the same HP ratting gas mower and have gas for at least 8 years or more to match the price of the battery ego Z6 and then there is the price to replace the batteries after 3 years of use

Ryan. I would be interested in the actual square footage of the total area you mowed. Then I could figure how much the unit will actually mow in terms of acres per charge. I mow about 5 acres and have never considered an electric unit substantial enough to mow my property. I was impressed at the results the unit provided, clean cut just like its gas/diesel competitors. One best thing I noticed was noise reduction. You didn't seem to need hearing protection. Not a golf cart, but a great addition to your series.
@Fentertainment2 жыл бұрын
I might actually try to make that another video in the future. After looking online the mower came with 4 batteries but when I spoke with my neighbor he said that his son left the mower with him with 3 batteries. The son moved due to business and kept 1 battery to work a ego weedeater. The mower is quiet kinda like a golf cart when the blades arent spinning, but when they are its still relatively quiet. This video doesnt have the views like other videos but I dont have the viewers who are interested in lawn mowers as well. I do appreciate you watching though. I would like to have one of these but not at the initial price tag they are sold at, Maybe some sort of conversion on the channel in the future........ will see.

I have a lot of EGO tools but no way I could cut my property with that mower. I have around 6-7 acres to keep cut so I went with a commercial Husqvarna zero turn with that Kawasaki. Seeing that thing bog out was crazy. My Husqvarna will run that grass down at 2.5 inches at 10mph its impossible to bog down a big commercial zero turn they have very deep decks to help with discharging that grass. If you had 6 batteries it would probably be better as the amp draw per battery would be less. The EGO brand stuff has been very reliable for me my wife or son will run the EGO weed trimmer while I run the STIHL 131R and they both love the battery trimmer its light and powerful.

Yep. This is true. I like this concept for smaller lawns. But for bigger lawns this won't cut it. Like you said you commercial lawn mower even at 10 mph with 2.5 inch grass won't even bog alittle bit. It can't be gas mowers.

They say it will cut around 2 acres per charge which isn't terrible for most homeowners. I'm on 17 acres with about 6-7 of that kept mowed so I went with a Husqvarna 61 inch commercial zero turn to get the bigger pumps and heavier duty deck and I can cut that 7 acers in 2 hours.

Till the batteries die and need to be replaced 😵 I like electric due to not having to do maintenance or have fresh gas on hand, but I’m a bit hesitant on getting the ego riding mower due to my experience with their electric trimmer, battery life is terrible, it stops running if the load is too much, and it takes too long to charge. I have not had any of these issues with my close to 10 year old kobalt electric landscaping equipment

5 year warranty in Australia. Given that Lithium batteries don't fail, they just lose about 20% of their charge capacity after about 500 cycles. So if you do a full recharge every week, that's nearly 10 years the lithium batteries should last.

@@Fentertainment I'm well invested in the EGO line with 5 10ah batteries and several tools. If someone knows their way around small engine machines they should just stick with gas. The biggest cost in fixing those things is time. parts are dirt cheap versus having to replace a $500 battery. These E-tools are made for those who don't want to be bothered with maintenance issues. Things can still break, but that's more of a catastrophic incident or defect rather than a maintenance item. for those with the typical suburban less than an acre lawn these tools are perfect. Wouldn't recommend these at all for commercial use or for those with multi acre lawns.
