Thanks for sharing your experience, tahrir koshary is the best! and sorry for your eyes 😢 if I were you I would have asked where is the water tap and washed it immediately, you can use any eye lubricant like solo fresh from any pharmacy, it's lubricating and cleaning your eyes cause even riding the bike in dusty streets can irritate eyes. I hope you get well soon🌹

I saw a video of another vlogger trying koshari and calling it a "carb bomb." I didn't leave a comment but I just wanted to say although it IS high in carbs, it is also a cheap dish that provides a COMPLETE PROTEIN (i.e. protein of a quality similar to that you get from animal sources, with all essential amino acids) because the protein in the legumes (chickpeas and lentils) complements the protein in the rice and pasta. Almost every culture on earth has a dish pairing some type of grain with some type of legume or bean. This is especially important to know for vegetarians and maybe bodybuilders on a budget. Anyway thanks for another great video!

that's interesting. I tried it when i was in Cairo and actually enjoyed it but i didn't understand why so many carbs were put together. This explanation helps my understanding

They give you the sauce on the side when you order the bigger sizes, since you picked the smallest thats why they added it to your dish, in case if you are still wondering why would they do that. Great content keep it up.

Fair enough. I've tried many places (of course, since I've been living here for years), and filmed at Abu Tarek in the past as well, as mentioned in the video. But I just really love koshary wherever I go. I have been asked by quite a few Egyptians to film this place, so I finally got around to it. Welcome back to Cairo! When I'm in Egypt, I don't eat outside a lot. I'm a bit afraid to get an upset stomach. Aren't you? When I eat outside, I make sure it's a busy place and clean. Any tips?
@Gventures9 күн бұрын
To be honest, no I'm not afraid. But I threw caution to the wind years ago and now have a strong stomach because I've eaten street food all over the world and many places in Asia (was sick in India and Vietnam and many other countries but now I don't get sick very often at all). Your precautions are the advice I would give: busy places, few flies, etc. Other than that, there's really not much you can do. I know some people who go to extremes and won't eat an fruit that has been pre-cut (exposed to water/washed), salads (same thing as the fruit, washed in water), don't have ice, even some wash their teeth with bottled water! To me that's going way overboard, but it really just depends on how safe you want to be and how delicate your stomach is. If you haven't exposed it to much and aren't willing to risk it, well, then yes you're going to have to limit the places you eat at. But it's honestly always a gamble. In the 3 years I've been living here, I've never gotten sick except once, when I ate at Domino's Pizza 😂 I ate there before and wasn't sick and I've eaten there after and wasn't sick, but one time I did. Ya just never know
@jennyparfum8 күн бұрын
@@Gventures I'm the one that don't use ice in my drinks when I drink outside. My stomach gets upset very easy. But even my family in law who are Egyptians get stomach problems from street food once in a while.
@Gventures8 күн бұрын
@@jennyparfum Yeah like I said, it's always a gamble. And it really does depend on the person's stomach. Once I took some tourists visiting to a restaurant I enjoy, and we all eat the same thing and shared plates. Nobody got sick except for one man 🤷♀ I think ever since eating street food in India daily for months, my stomach has been a lot stronger. It's all about exposure.

I have watched countless hours of your videos, and I’ve finally booked a flight! You should be Egypt's brand ambassador! Have you ever landed at Alexandria Airport? I can’t find any information regarding SIM cards or ATMs at that airport.
@Gventures9 күн бұрын
No, unfortunately I don't have any information on Alexandria's airport since I live in Cairo and always fly in there. But I would be pretty damn surprised if they didn't have kiosks selling SIM cards there. In fact I would expect it. Worse comes to worst, just bargain with the taxis for half the price they quote you (start by going lower than half the price they tell you and then laughing when they tell you a higher price and walk away - it's a start). More than likely they are trying to charge you double at least. If you want, ahead of time you can check Uber prices from your location now (in whatever country you are in) by just typing in your location first before your destination (i.e. pretend your location is in Cairo airport, destination your hotel name), but bear in mind the time of day and the fact that prices will change according to that, and traffic. But it gives you a better idea. Then you can just get to your hotel and figure out a SIM card there (staff can tell you a nearby Orange, Vodaphone or other phone carrier company). But again, I would bet money that Alexandria has kiosks selling these.

Crab? What are you talking about

@ Syrian shawarma and chicken restaurants get shut down regularly for using expired and not suitable for human consumption. They are known for that 🤷🏻

@ I heard about that happening while ago, but it was a few places, not something that happens all the time. I filmed at a fantastic Syrian restaurant not long ago called Al Agha, love that spot. Still don't know why you were talking about crab though, it had nothing to do with anything. Or mentioning Syrian restaurants, for that matter. This video is not about chicken and not about shawarma. Completely unnecessary to drag Syrian restaurants into the conversation.
