From a Greek who admires the tough Egyptians! The Turks had to call on you guys for help during the War of Greek Independence, and the Egyptians cleaned our clocks! The Greeks lost every battle against them, and Egypt was on the verge of grabbing Greece for itself until the British, French and Russians saved us. We love each other now, but I call them as I see them, you guys beat the stuffing out of us. Today, Greek forces that train with the Egyptians admire how much more powerful they are!

Chris S is right, man, I am another Greek who looks up to the greatness and power of Egypt. We learn a lot about the Greek War of Independence in school, and the Egyptian soldiers taught our guys a tough lesson! While I am Greek, I still admire bad ass soldiers, and the Egyptians were BAD ASS. You guys would have conquered us for good had it not been for the European powers. Our teachers told us that the Greek rebels considered it an honor to lose to the Egyptians, and that is true.

Thank you! I always hear Egypt has the best soldiers (manpower - not weapons) in the world, but I care for your comment as it comes from non-Egyptian. Someone could say "today's wars depends on technology more than manpower" I agree but I think they both complete eachother, if you know since 1948 the U.S. always guaranteed to Israel the technological superiority. However, and despite the bad equipments Egyptians had they could give Israel a very hard lesson (in 1973) can't be forgotten.

You are welcome, my Egyptian brother. Even in victory, the Egyptian soldiers showed the Greeks much compassion, unlike the bloody Turks. Egyptian commanders issued strict orders to stop the killing immediately when the Greeks surrendered. Greek prisoners of war were fed, clothed and medically treated by the Egyptians, and played cards and other games with their captors. Women and children in the Greek villages were treated kindly by the Egyptian soldiers. Tough warriors, but true gentlemen!

In Greece, we are taught two things in reference to this: first, various opinions may be offered as to other Muslims, but the Egyptians could have conquered us at any time during the War of Independence, and second, it was an honor and a privilege to lose to them. There were 152 battles fought between Egyptian forces hired by the Ottoman sultan against the Greek rebels, and the Egyptians crushed us in all 152 battles. As nationalistic as we Greeks are, we also know our superiors. Egypt is tough!
