As the sun set over the tranquil waters of Island Lake, a captivating scene unfolded. An Egyptian goose was peacefully feeding on the water with her tiny babies right behind her. The mother goose scouted the lake as evening approached for a safe place to roost for the night. She hopped onto a pile of sticks, scouting it as a safe resting place for her little ones.
Egyptian geese are interesting birds. During the day, they look for food by the water, feeding on the lush vegetation. At night, they rest in trees or on the water to stay safe from danger. They like to be up high to watch out for predators. This is how they spend their nights and stay alert in the wild.
