"Woh" roughly translates to he/she/that. Because many women in India don't address their husbands by their name. Sometimes they address them as "so-and-so's father".

at 14:40 a very nice point you guys said there... that we are too much connected these days. So i thought of an idea that when I'll be in a relationship in future now... me and my parter would do one thing i.e. we won't talk during the time when we are working.... so that the excitement to meet you partner after the work or a lond day remains intact and can add fuel to a relationship... as what's happening now is people don't have anything left to talk when they meet cuz they have been constantly chatting everything over phones the whole day.
@serenityq26
@serenityq26 6 жыл бұрын
the opposite is true. we are NOT connected enough. you are connected to machines with your social media this and internet that. people arent even talking to their spouses just looking at their social media feed and spending time "together" through the phone NOT real life which is the problem. society is too reliant on technology

I agreed with the rubber band effect that Jaby's talking about.... Earlier there were arranged marriages... Until the next generation rejected and started disagreeing with the idea and stared promoting the so called " love trumps all BS ". However with the side effects like emotional breakdown, less socialization, less confident and many other. Few intelligent people realized this and started going towards personal match making ( which is the modern version of arranged marriage) My point is Things never change They just become modernized ( to such extent that we actually never realize that they were the old stuff with a modern touch ) *Peace* ☮️

I totally agree with your 'label' logic. There are both negative and positive ones. And labels,in my opinion, are grossly needed to figure yourself out. But somehow I think if someone wants to be referred to as the pronoun 'they',it isn't really frivolous. People are just trying to find themselves and if they believe that the gender that was assigned to them at birth is not what they identify with. And if the label of 'they' helps them, then I guess no one is hurt. Grammatically speaking, it's actually correct. If you see any definition of the word 'they', the 4th or 5th one is usually the one where the word 'they' is used for third person plural singular, usually for when you don't know the gender. Ofcourse if they are being over the top about it(like the video above,then yeah I get your frustration). I just want to know your views on this. P.S. I really like your discussions and break down of the video. Some of your discussions really are interesting. I never really thought about the stigma attached with threesomes that you brought forward in this video.

In India , women don't call their husbands by their first name, they use "WOH", which is said in a way of respecting the husbands. Earlier and even today in many houses , the wife doesn't say his husband's first name instead calls them by "Woh" . Got that jaby?? It's just a way of respecting men.

Don't take it literally because it was making fun of things by exaggerating the sketch. Well "Woh" means he/him/she/her/that, so back in the days in traditional Indian families women didn't call their husbands by the name instead they tend to use other honorary pronouns to talk about them in which "Woh" was more prevalent.

I saw a couple explanations on what "woh" meant, but I'll finish through by explaining the joke: "Woh" translates to "him/her/that person". Back in the day, and in many rural areas now, women would not address their husband by name as a sign of respect (weird right?). Because of that, they knew she was talking about a man but could not figure out his role in her life... and then in the "now" phase they show that we have the same problem occurring for a different reason: hesitancy on labels

you are wrong. chinese is the name of a group languages and there are far more than two. taiwanese, shanghainese, peiking, mandarin, cantonese, etc etc. so its ok to just say chinese just like its ok to just say japanese or korean even though different regions use different dialects with different words. most languages have gender specific terms, english as always is whack

woh is a term used to refer to someone respectfully, like wife referring to husband , a student referring to teacher etc. technically woh is he or him in a respectful way.the presence of parents in relationships(old times) is understandable. Sharmaji's son refers to someone who is like an alpha male,perfect in every manner. But breakups have changed a lot. In old times ,it was a great deal, you will have great psychological effects, it meant like end of the world.Now its more of a daily event

"Woh" in Hindi means (a person) and so her friends were "labeling" the person (woh) who was coming to meet them and they did not expect that it could be a name. So it is revealed at the end that the name of the person is "Woh". and no, it's not a typical name in India. I have never met somebody named "Woh" so it wasn't the best joke as very few people would relate to it.

Jaby, Woh (him in hindi) is how wives addressed the husbands. Till a generation ago a indian wife never takes the name of her husband or does not even call him by his name. She would call him as Woh (him in hindi). Once they have kids sometimes wife calls him "Muna ke Pitaji" ( Muna's dad). There is also a superstition I believe that its considered bad luck for wife to call her husband by his name.

“Woh” is a gender neutral pronoun. A little time ago, it was tradition for wives to not refer their husbands by name in front of others. Hence they referred to them as “woh”(in this case equivalent to him or he). So when she says woh, the others try to guess whom exactly she is referring to. But turns out his actual name is woh.
