There is a difference between the type of cruelty shown in this video and commercialized animal farming. If someone threw rocks at a random stray cow I'd also be upset. But eating animals farmed for meat is an entirely different matter. Mechanized slaughter for food != mindless abuse

You have a good point. However, you see, cruelty specifically is concentrated towards dogs. Because, in streets, people usually dont torment cows and bulls as they are too huge and considered sacred. Cats are difficult to catch and other animals are not so common. So this leaves dogs as easy targets for these sociopaths. In fact, you may have heard the controversy about Jallikattu which involves bulls. Horses, donkeys, camels are used for carrying loads in carts which is also a kind of cruelty but it is still controlled in the sense that a farmer using those animals will take care of the animal as it is his source of livelihood. This case is just meaningless torture and serves no purpose apart from satisfying their sick pleasures. So, these kind of cruelties demand the most attention at the moment. We will get to other forms when we get there.

I am not talking about your particular question but I'm just saying that when I was in 5th std I had written a letter to our CM Mr. Narendra Modi, the letter was for him but never posted by me for the same issue "Cruelty towards the animals" and my papa found that and mailed it to him . Idk why or how but after a couple of months I get to know that the CM has started a gaushala which works for stray cows and also a veterinary hospital was opened for them in the same gaushala. So my point is if at least 1/10 people would make an attempt for having this cruelty stopped I think that can make a change . Im with you mate, we are still far away on objectivity. Through some magic, cruelty against barking,biting,shitting rabies spreading dogs is sooo bad ,but killing other animals is seen as natural because it's food apparently. People won't realize their hypocrisy. Killing a goat or chicken for a tasty snack after beer is harmless, but killing a dog because of fear or because it's a nuisance is so evil. The only solution is to either ban all animal violence and thereby leather and meat industries or accept that killing all animals excluding humans is acceptable(with the exception of endangered species maybe).

The law is still stuck to what it was back in 1960, when 50 rupees is equivalent to more than 500 in 2016. The Indian Government forget about making Animal Cruelty a major crime, following the example of the Western countries, has never even bothered to change the law to accomodate the modern inflation rate, the purchasing power of 50 rupees in 1960 is completely different from what it is 2016. Compared to 1960 the 50 Rupees today has completely lost its value.

I absolutely condemn people who hurl animals off buildings, or burn them or harm them in any way just for the pleasure of it, such people need to be dealt by the law in a strict manner. But lets be honest your solutions will do nothing to reduce the problem, culling dogs is the only practical solution, no amount of adoption or NGO's will help in reducing strays, you talked about US laws against harming animals, do you know what happens to strays in the US? I'm pretty sure you do but conveniently ignored it, in the US un-adopted dogs in animal shelters are put down (killed), heck if a pet dog bites a stranger they usually have to put it down, that's how strict laws are enforced in the US. You'll hardly ever see packs of dogs roaming the streets in the US, its a daily occurrence here in India, at night packs of dogs rule certain street corners, its impossible to walk or ride a bike on such a street unless you want to get chased by a pack of dogs. When you're alone and they're in a group they are more deadly and can get vicious, pack instincts take over. Many of the so called "dog lovers" own exotic breeds like Labardors, pugs, dachshunds, huskys, G.sheapard etc, very few have adopted a stray pup aka Indian pariah dog. I took in a stray pup a few years ago and he's part of the family now, a friend who's a "dog lover" has a pug and a Labrador, he asked me to buy one more dog but get a "classy" one this time..his way of saying the stray dog looks cheap. Fuck assholes like him, their only need for a dog is mostly for bragging. I can easily get an exotic breed, but there are plenty of stray pups roaming the streets, if you want people to seriously consider adoption then spread awareness that the Indian pariah dog aka gali ka kutta is a good breed, very friendly, hardly gets sick and will love you just as much as any other dog. But even then there are millions of adult feral dogs that can't be domesticated, culling them in a humane manner is the only practical solution. I generally like most EIC outrage videos, but this was superficially done and extremely politically correct.

In the US, the dogs are kept in homes for some time for assessing their condition and then, only if they have caused harm to humans or property, they are put down medically without any pain. That argument would make sense if we were uncivilized humans who cannot find alternatives to meat. But we have. We can satisfy all our dietary needs with vegetarian food. The only reason anyone eats animals anymore is because they enjoy it. In my opinion killing an animal just because you enjoy how they taste is unnecessarily KILLING them. What do you say when people say, "I am pro rape and think it should be allowed"? Do people are allowed to have "multiplicity of opinions"?? There are different views to life and actions. But somethings are straight right wrong, and not to mention dumb. I am a veterinary doctor by profession, and I see to what extent people can do to dogs and cats.
