Great version of this song! Harmonies and mandolin! In my Byrds playlist with a live version by Chris and Herb Pederson. Thanks for the upload!

This is a lovely version and being different from the original is a good thing. Never going to be as good as the original by merely trying to be a second rate copy. Love the original, love this version too.

This is on Chris Hillman's 2005 album "The Other Side". This is the album's opening track. He also does a version of the Manassas tune "It Doesn't Matter", which he, of course, co-wrote with Stephen Stills.

Ludicrous to compare this to the original, which is one of the greatest of all rock songs. This is a beautiful, heartfelt take on that classic by one great, really well- grounded musician. Gram Parsons sold his soul to the devil's partner, (that would be the inane, jelly-brained Keith Richards) and really passed on the chance to be a true music legend rather than just a hyperbolic one. Shame.

Dan Hurley How does Gram fit into this at all? And no, he didn't sell his soul to Keith, his family history was full of substance abuse issues. No one in his family apart from his daughter Polly (who struggled with her own substance use issues) has lived a "normal" lifespan. Meanwhile, Keith, in his own words, "did all right and had his fun", wrote some of the greatest rock' n' roll albums in his prime, and is now a family man who's still around to play with the world's greatest rock' n' roll band and make a fortune. Maybe one day he'll leave his body for science to study, making him arguably the most valuable (in addition to iconic) member of the rock' n' roll era.

@@mattthrun-nowicki8641 I completely agree with you and Lionel....thanks for expressing it without vitriol. Why is there any need for a comparison with the original ( which was great)...surely different takes and interpretations of a song are worthy of some appreciation.
