Obama is just so educated, well-spoken, down-to-earth, funny, and just generally awesome. I can't get enough of him. His vibe is just...perfect. He equally speaks for the people - whether they are majorities or minorities. He never bastardizes or thinks less of people. So much nuance in many of his detailed answers. As a minority in a few aspects, I do not feel spoken down to when hearing him speak. but rather as an equal even though he is much higher and better than me in every way. Better that he does not his ego stroked. I am not even a citizen of The United States, but I wish he would be able to come back as President. I have friends living there who need him to lead. I understand that need. Obama is truly presidential. The last President that actually deserved the title and respect. I shall see about Biden. Please be awesome, Biden. Being better than Trump is not a large achievement. Any moderately qualified and half-decent person is better than him. Be *MUCH* better than him. Be very awesome.

Yeah, too bad it's hollow aesthetic narcissistic bullshit to excuse his willful complicity to corporate and financial capital. Exhibit A: wall street bailouts. "I'm the only thing standing between you and the pitchforks." 80+% of the public was against the bailouts. He and he alone chose to protect these sociopaths, the very people that caused the crisis in the first place. No prosecutions, no anything, and of course we can thank Clinton for removing Glass-Steagall to catalyze this in the first place. Rahm Emanuel saying any consideration of bailing out the people at the bottom rather than those that literally caused the GFC would be a "moral hazard". Insane. Grotesque. Completely disconnected from reality despite his appeals to "rationality" and "reason". Relevant thread toward the imperialism he also pursued and amplified without question at the behest of finance capital and the military industrial complex: www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1916/imp-hsc/ The petrodollar, the world reserve currency thanks to the Nixon shock in the 70s which took us out of the already imbalanced Bretton-Woods system established after WWII, was precisely the mechanism that needs to be protected via imperialism to maintain the purchasing power of the dollar. The international mechanism to exploit and subordinate other countries being the IMF/World Bank "washington consensus" -debt peonage/resource extraction- "loan program for developing countries". This is how we maintain the American empire and as we're seeing it's in the process of collapsing, inevitably moving toward the explicit state/corporate merger that Mussolini himself defined as fascism, the KKK being essentially the proto-fascist elements of this country now capturing people's righteous indignation about economic precarity and sublimating it toward disgusting hate and violence. Trump, the narcissistic dipshit he is, played lip service to such inevitable material decline. This is the mechanism corporate pieces of shit like Obama will _never_ talk about because it rebukes their stupid fucking "legacy". Any of this ring a bell historically? The nazis didn't lose WWII, Germany did. Carl Schmitt, despite being an actual nazi or really probably precisely because of this, offers a good insight here in his Concept of the Political. To badly paraphrase to thread it toward my point, it's basically a critique of liberalism as a denial of "the political" itself, which he defines as action taken for "friend" or against "enemy". Why this is relevant I think is because he later used this notion to craft a political strategy to exploit this liberal capitulation by accumulating institutional political power over time through this tendency of compromise as a primary principle, which we're clearly living through and essentially at the whim of thanks to people like Obama and the neoliberal establishment of the "Democratic" party. Controlled opposition masquerading as "the left". What happened at the capital is _precisely_ what this country does via the CIA (Operation Gladio is the template here) to pretty much every other country on this planet that even attempts to move toward an actually left (ie pro-worker) program. Allende in Chile being replaced by Pinochet is probably the most transparently disgusting example, but don't worry, there's plenty more! www.wikiwand.com/en/United_States_involvement_in_regime_change www.wikiwand.com/en/Operation_Condor www.wikiwand.com/en/Pentagon_Papers#/Actual_objective_of_the_Vietnam_War:_Containment_of_China www.wikiwand.com/en/Operation_Gladio 9/11 as blowback: www.wikiwand.com/en/Operation_Cyclone OOPS. OOOOOOOOOOOOOPS. Plenty more of course insanely/sadly, just a random selection. This is what is required to maintain neoliberal capitalism. Hell, he killed _an american citizen_ with one of his drone strikes. People in the middle east literally fear the skies because of this fucking bullshit. His fucking book is an _insane_ rewriting of history which touches on everything I'm saying here, even mentioning "rapacious capitalism" but then pretends there's just nothing we can do about it. Fuck this guy, please don't fall for his neoliberal bullshit. Socialism or barbarism. Also relevant, Chomsky and Herman's Manufacturing Consent, here's a convenient documentary version to watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6banoqkpc2kf6s Read Marx. Hell, read Adam Smith, the "father of capitalism" himself: _"Kelp was never augmented by human industry. The landlord, however, whose estate is bounded by a kelp shore of this kind, demands a rent for it."_ Even the pope has finally recognized this: www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/encyclicals/documents/papa-francesco_20201003_enciclica-fratelli-tutti.html I guess God himself doesn't agree with neoliberalism. Real shocker. We're living in a perversion of politics and economics to serve a select few and this will only intensify as US empire collapses as the Roman/British empire did before it.

Mitch McConnell is Emperor Palpatine Some of you will die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make! - Lord Trump @Justin Y. Trump is evil. He ignored this virus until he couldn't ignore it...the steps taken have been deliberately slow to contain this virus, as the government has made huge financial gains in allowing particularly older, retired people to die...no more pay outs each month...voting, if still valid in this country...is our only peaceful, legal recourse...voting 3rd party is the ONLY WAY to get real humans in power, rather than dynasty families and career politicians. When we realize the 2 parties we are divided over LOVE the division among us...then and only then may America be great again... @Justin Y. Lack of knowledge of the deep state? I just accused our government of mass murder...I understand deep state...fact that you refuse to listen, only attack, says too much about you...clearly you haven't known hardship. Clearly none of this has impacted you negatively...you are part of the problem, offering zero solutions. @Justin Y. Calling me stupid really helps your case...Trump has very limited brain power, as evidenced by his rambling, generally repetitive, toddler talks...although most of us are sorely undereducated, Trump really amazes me every time i listen to his banter. Trump did not close the borders in time, many flights to the USA brought sick folk here. Action wasn't taken until very late February, and by then 15 confirmed cases were more than enough to basically allow what amounts to airborn, quickly lethal AIDS《why this? (Because this virus mutates too fast to create an effective vaccine, which may never get made), upon the world. This is dangerous because common behaviors of common folk, such as shoulder to shoulder events, shopping and sardine packed working conditions, helped this virus along...even as people died in China daily...America went forward 2 full months wothout any concerns...then...rather than force the hands of state officials, and put the population through a 2 month quarantine, we've been seeing states react, rather than prepare...and all at the natural stages this virus thrives on...complacency among enough of us to allow the spread to continue. You refusing to see this logic isn't a blight on my mental capacity, just proves you are as simple as our Lord Trump...and likely among those very few, who like many elites, don't even understand the plight of the masses, whom I speak for, in this contrived crisis...Trump is calm about the virus because he exists outside the bounds of common folk...Trump and other powerful people would never have to take the risk of infection seriously as they are all well protected by expendable servants or can at the least afford to continue living lavishly and distanced from peons such as myself. 9/11 was an inside job and this proves what I've feared since then...that the government can perform mass murder and the people will always just accept it, hire the next sociopath in line, whichever of the 2 evil divisionary parties they aspire to dwell in... Our educational system is archaic. We could be educating everyone from home...there are no valid excuses for our current broken schooling, and no teachers need lose jobs...as the internet is an amazing communication device... Taxes are broken. Your dollar earned gets hit so many times...and we all just accept that blindly. Medicine is broken. My grandmother died because her selfish daughter needed cable tv more than grandma needed diabetes medicine...and millions suffer from the inability to afford insulin, despite that drug initially starting out as a gift to humanity from a generous genius, privatized by evil and greed, priced beyond reality for most. Our 2 party system is designed to keep us bickering...division keeps us docile enough to accept our own government conspiring to murder us, with our acceptance. 3rd party candidates are generally real humans...that care about other humans, even, gasp, total strangers and foreigners... We are all on the same damn spaceship...Earth. I judge character...not race, not whatever religion folks are born into. I am old...I am tired of seeing disaster after disaster get slow attention from government, as poor people die in thousands due to delayed or nonexistent help. It's about time the many take control, with votes, to dethrone the sociopaths that control us, play games with our very lives... When there are only voluntary homeless, when the janitor is paid living wage, when a high school graduate can earn enough in food service, or retail, to support a modest home and essentials, while creating a nest egg...when veterans are given the same care as Congress, Senate and other positions of highest power, rather than left to suffer and die, when the lowest paying jobs are enough to survive on, then and only then, can America boast of being great... As it stands...I feel most of us are born into lies we have no control over...It's well orchestrated, as my points are made clear in every satirical broadcast about the plight of the expendable masses, world wide... Do I want peace, equity and kumbaya? Yeah...I do...are there sociopaths in power oppressing the common folk...yeah...there are...have good Democrats and Republicans existed? Yes...they get blocked by evil at every turn, often resigning due to unbeatable corruption. Do I pity the very people I label simple? You bet I do...I want this planet to be a better place for most...not some...for all...if ever possible... This covid virus isn't done. It mutates too fast to pin it down with a vaccine...and we haven't seen the end of it because we, as a planet, would have to agree on a few ground rules to consider being a functional society. That's my 2 cents...some of it...take it or leave it. Most of us just exist and watch, lazily, rather than get directly involved in change. @soaringvulture We don't seem to take note...we, the expendable masses, are being told to push through life ignoring this virus...it took ONE infection to start a Planet Wide Pandemic...and because we didn't quarantine from January 1st to February, we get to watch innocent and otherwise lives lost, daily...who are "we", in "we're in it together"? Certainly not the elite...they step on us to avoid harm...I'm furious with humanity as a whole...I'm furious we accept all this death and Trump's toddler talks...like a Ted talk without useful insight... Those of us suffering are many...while the privileged watch the show They created...when...when will the common folk unite against tyranny, through the only peaceful means we have...vote out career politicians and dynasty families in favor of fellow human beings, with consciousness and compassion for the lowest among us. We won't stop the cycle of abuse by trading Democrats and Republicans, two sides of the same evil, corrupt coin. Vote 3rd party...vote for real people, with flaws, that understand what struggle is...that have put time behind any of these so called essential, yet minimum wage jobs... This economy is screwed...always has been. The vast majority of work available is menial labor...food service, retail, janitors, grocers...a great many take their wages in government...which is far too big, complex and unsustainable... Until any job can offer a modest secure household, until the only homeless are those who volunteer to live "free"...until the pill giants are mandated to make life saving medicine reasonably priced...we are a selfish, horrid nation, divided by the very people that oppress us, yet too busy fighting amongst ourselves to take any useful action towards a better tomorrow for the MANY, not the FEW...

Obama clearly has such a desire to carefully consider everything he does. I'd love to see more of that in Washington-people you can respect whether you agree with them or not, because it's clear they care, they think, and they try very hard to do what's best.

As much as I laud Thailand for how well your country has handled this pandemic, I still feel bad because your country looks like it's in a dictatorship
@jerryandbeau3 жыл бұрын
@@quattrobajeena8623 we're no longer doing so well. Cases are soaring every day now since we cannot control illegal border crossings. And you're right, we're living under dictatorship and there's nothing we can do about it. That's why I envy the American people, not just for having a president like Obama. Even though you guys don't like Trump, but at least you know he won't be in power forever when his term ends. For us, our leader makes sure he stays in power as long as possible by changing laws and people who voice their opinions against the government get locked up behind bars. There's no future for my country.
@quattrobajeena86233 жыл бұрын
jerry su I'm actually from the PH and we're virtually in the same situation as yours (maybe even worse). This country's president does everything he can to stay in power, enable his friends to steal more taxpayer money, and commit more human rights violations.It's even worsened by the fact that they're deluding the people into believing that they're doing well to resolve the pandemic when they have really stupid policies like mandatory face shields, cases ballooning everyday, and prioritizing the sketchy Sinovac for vaccine imstead of more credible ones like Pfizer or AZ. If only we have a leader like Obama tho. I also envy the fact that in the US, checks and balances still work.

@@animeanime6514 Irrespective of what speaking well does or does not do to the economy, at least we all can agree that nonsensical and hateful speech clouds the public judgement and does to some extent negatively affect the market. So this is what "the one that got away" feels like? Sitting in your room, thinking about the good times with a good man who always had the best intentions and room in his heart for you and everyone around him, and wondering how you ended up with an unattractive, overweight buffoon with a violent temper and a tendency to abuse (his power). Analogy aside, my cousin recommended me to read a couple books, "The Party's Over" by Charlie Crist and "No One Man Should Have All That Power" by Amos Barshad, ones they feel are relevant to the last four years.
