I look at automation like this: if the real life farmers can have satellite/gps linked machines that can steer and start/stop implements for them, then I can have CoursePlay. Any time a truck or chaser bin pulls around, well that's just one of the family or a hired hand driving it.

I've been playing this game on and off for a few months now, but so far, the only thing I know how to do with any level of competency is grow basic wheat crops lol. Never quite figured out root crops, or how to look after animals, or bailing, or how the whole slurry system works..... I have tried doing some logging, but only to remove a few annoyingly placed trees around my farm, and I was incredibly bad at it lol, but I can see how it could be fun (and quite satisfying) with a bit of practice. Despite my basic knowledge though, the game is still fun! (and oddly, since I got into the game, I now find tractors to be 'cool' lol. They're like agricultural Transformers and I love them lol)

One category I think you missed out on was realistic. I love trying to play as realistically as possible. I play on 24 day seasons on a 5x timescale, I have to sleep 8 hours every night, I have to spend 15 minutes in game time servicing each piece of equipment in the morning before starting to use it (an air seeder with tractor would be 45 minutes-15 for the cart, 15 for the toolbar, 15 for the tractor; a combine and header would be 30 minutes-15 for the combine 15 for the header), I'm not allowed to do any field work if the ground is wet, I have to watch the weather before spraying as if I'm going to get rain in the next 36-48 hours I'm not allowed to spray, I make contracts to sell my grain and if I'm unable to deliver because I got rained out all fall I get large money penalties. It's quite enjoyable and something that I don't see many if any people do.
@TheFarmSimGuy3 жыл бұрын
I like it, sounds like a great challenge 👍
@lancewhitfield41863 жыл бұрын
Hello @Joshua Doll I hope you reply, I’m looking to do something like this. But on 24 day seasons when there is nothing to do do you speed up time? And also what map are you playing this “game mode” on.
@joshuadoll90003 жыл бұрын
@@lancewhitfield4186 Yeah I quite often will only play for a few in game hours during the winter when I have no animals and will fast forward if I have nothing to do. Most of the time though there's always some field work to do during the other seasons; I rarely have spare time because I balance the size of my equipment to my land so that it will take the full season to get all my field work done. I typically play on 16x maps but have done this on 4x maps as well. I prefer the larger maps and it also makes it so that there's a lot of travel time involved so it's a bit more realistic that for example I may only get 2 or 3 truck loads hauled to the sell point in a day before I have to stop; it also means that there can be a lot of travel time depending on where your land is. I've spent a whole in game day just moving equipment from one field to another before. If you really want to you can also set opening hours for places like sell points, equipment dealership, bulk product buy stations, the bank, etc. meaning you could only perform actions involving those places between their opening times. There's a bunch of other niche things I do to try to emulate real life that slow the game down a bit but always make it so there's rarely a dull moment for me. The biggest thing to stress when trying this out though would be to balance the size of your equipment to your land. You can always adjust the timescale to suit your needs too; I play on 5x most of the time because I like to roleplay a bit and will stop to take screenshots and such but you can adjust this to however you want to play; I think 15x would work just fine for this too depending on how into the realistic/roleplay side you want to get. Maybe you enjoy working through the night and don't want to simulate requiring sleep which gives you more work hours in a day and means you can crank up the timescale more. I typically shoot for roughly 2-3 real life hours for an average in game work day but you could shorten that or stretch it to your liking.
@lancewhitfield41863 жыл бұрын
@@joshuadoll9000 amazing 👍 I’m doing this on console so I do have some restriction. I am doing this on millennial farmers map, I think 24 day seasons is to long for me at least, especially when trying to balance out school. I love to play with old machinery only. Another fun way is with the better contracts mod you can do more contracts at once, and basically play as a company where you can hire machinery from and do all the work for the other farmers on your map. This way you will need to go to every corner of the map and basically every field. It adds alot of challenges too, like maintaining your vehicles on the spot, and try to refill them while they are nowhere near a shop or your "base" etc. And logging is another way i like to play the game. Yes it is a challenge but once you figure out what machinery suits you the best, it can be quite fun!

Seasoned player here with more than 1000 hours. My preferred way to play is a mix of survival, challenge and roleplay. My best campaign so far: I played the role of a young man who inherited a small field, but has only 20 000$ and a poor credit score (so no loan from the bank). So I choose a map, start the game, choose a field, buy it and sell ALL available equipment. Then I shut down the game and I edit the farm.xml file to remove all the money ...to only keep 20 000$. So in the end, I start with a field and 20 000$. And I NEVER use teleport thru TAB key. This is the most fun I had so far.

That's where you get Courseplay, plot a 5 tractor course, send them off and wait 20 mins and then you send 5 more with cultivators/fertilizers and another 20 mins later you send another 5 that seed. judging by your speed for 2 workers you get it done in about 24 hours, and it's gone from not plowed to seeded.

i'm having an issue with the italia map, the lizard pallets pack's single bags are spawning most of the way in the ground and it ain't letting me get them out, i did find a set of 2 mods that do mostly the same thing, polish seed pallets, and chicken food bag, they are both on pc (and maybe console) modhub, when you try to install the polish seed pack it wants you to download realseeds, but you don't have to.

My FS Game Play suggestion to those that need to focus. pack your Can Do attitude in with your lunch. because seat time and hands on time, is all the time you will have in this game. make money..what ever you do, make sure it pays. meaning, your not turning a profit until that harvest sells or that contract work is done. the landscape tool - is for tools and theyre money..so Stay Off the landscaping Tool. dont spoil your diner, and cheat in money. earn it by working your farm. turning a profit for your farm is your main priority. get it out of the red and into the black, and start adding some commas. now your farming.

Are you able to buy land in the new farmer mod. I have 3 games going and I’m not able to buy land. I’m not sure if I have something turned off or wrong career mod. By the way love your videos. And I would love to get one of your hats.

Nice video, again! I'd like to play online, I tried sometimes, but I am a serious guy, like you, FSG. I'm an Administrator, so I built spreadsheets to help me take better decisions in game. I have just one friend that plays like me, but now he is very busy. Hey, what is a TP map or TP Mods?

So, I actually bought the mobile version before I bought the game for my PC. In the mobile game, you could hire helpers to drive equipment to any point on the map, as well as for tasks like go to the filling station and refuel, go to the car wash to clean the equipment, haul a load of something to sell at one of the businesses, and if you were using a harvester of some sort, you could honk the horn and a helper would pull the nearest trailer up to you so you could unload. From what I've noticed, these functions are not available in the PC version, which really is an annoyance. When I want to buy a new piece of equipment for example, I have to drop everything I'm doing to go pick it up from the store and UNGA, UNGA, UNGA, my way across the map at 10 mph (if its a slower machine) to where I'm working, where as in the mobile version I could have just simply hired someone to drive the machine to where it needed to go, rather than halting production for an hour just so I can putz around trying to get something from point A to B. Another example would be, there's a task that requires two pieces of equipment, but I can only drive one thing at a time, so rather than hiring someone to drive one thing to the destination while I drive the other, I have to drive one there, then waste time going back and moving the other where it needs to go. I think I've rambled on about this enough, so my question is, is auto drive a good solution to this problem? I simply don't understand why the developers took away this option for having helpers be able to do these tasks, or maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

Check out store deliveries mod, you can get it delivered directly to your farm without even needing to send a helper. and yes Autodrive is a great solution to this problem. but I agree with you, it's a shame that functionality is in the mobile version and not the full game (although they are completely different games from the ground up so that might explain why it's not transitioned across both games)
