This stands as the most brilliant scene of comedic acting I can remember seeing. Eileen Brennan nailed it, every facial expression, every intonation, every gesture made the script come alive. I would like to see any of the Oscar winning actresses out act her in this scene.
@kdohertygizbur3 жыл бұрын
Well...I disagree, of all time....no. but Eileen Brennan did deliver a phenomenal performance
@SpikeSPS2 жыл бұрын
It isn't only the good acting. It's the great technical acting and the editing. When the cameral angle changes, the take is so spot on with facial expressions, gestures, ect. Bette Davis was so envious of a shot Joan Crawford did, just getting out of a car , that had to be done in several takes and all match up in a sequence. Davis was so bewildered that Crawford could get everything to match so well in one take per camera shot. To do it and throw in dialogue and comedic timing- yep... that is pretty awesome- on both actors parts.

Eileen Brennan created one of the all time great comedic characters here. If they gave Academy Awards for comedy (which they rarely lower themselves to do, preferring some dramatic interpretation of some artsy character named Tallina Aouda or somesuch), Eileen Brennan deserved one

RMPsumma She was nominated for this role, and well-deserved.
@mmjhcb7 жыл бұрын
Ryan Clark I know she was nominated -- the bone they throw to comedy performances which will not win. If Irene Dunne didn't win for "The Awful Truth," why should we hold out hope for other great comedic performances? Comedy has always suffered. Comedy writing is looked on as "easy." Therefore, no comedic piece will win over something titled, "The Eternal Sands of Tuesday." It's insane, totally unfair, and just plain stupid. Meryl Streep in "Kramer vs. Kramer" beat EB. Need I say more?
