@@nathanjora7627 Nah, different story. I never run out of vials in Bloodborne. Never. Lowest I've gotten to was from 20 down to 7 against Laurence on NG+4. So the only way I die is being one shot, essentially. That, or stun locked to death because you can't escape that in Bloodborne. So if we had all the health from our vials in one big pool the way bosses do, I'd essentially never die.

@@TheStraightestWhitest I think you're missing the point ^^ Sure, there would be differences if instead of having to manually recharge your healthpool through vials you had it all in one go, but having a huge health pool as big as the one provided virtually by the amount of your vials+base health, but tanking every hit like a plank of wood wether you have a lot of health and no vial or 20 vials but normal health is essentially the same except for, as you cite, stun locks and insta death. Or in other words, not watching your vial consumption and tanking every non-insta death hit/combo is nearly the same as having a very big healthbar.

@@nathanjora7627 Yes, but as I said, 100% of my deaths since DS3 have come from instant kill, not attrition. So while in theory you're correct, in practice the stun locks and instant kills make up 100% of casualties, thus making the practical difference enormous. Having to back up (through perfectly timed rolls that get you 50% counter damage if you get hit afterwards) and then heal, during which your character is momentarily incapacitated and also takes 50% counter damage, isn't comparable to just being able to take those hits. Even the rally system would benefit massively from one big bar, because often times we'll back up and waste a vial simply because we're under 80% health and are thus in big danger of a one shot, when we could have just gotten that health back from attacking. Meanwhile if we didn't have to fear the one shot, we'd find an opening and get much if not all of our health back through rally.

Okay, that's actually a difference I'm willing to concede, that's entirely a valid point in bloodborne, although it doesn't seem to me like Eileen is gaining health back from rallies ? Although to counteract I'd bring to your attention that it's entirely possible you wouldn't get that much health back due to the lack of poise. If you tried to just tank everything without dodging, there is a big chance that big hits, but combos especially, would suck your health super fast. It wouldn't be nearly as threatening as in the case where using vials, but still.
