This is my favourite version of this aria and the aria itself is the most underrated aria ever. No idea what the other parts of performance look like, but this looks like a really good reimagined version of the opera. I’m very very conservative when it comes to subscriptions, but I promise to at least watch some more vids and then consider subscribing. Like is absolutely granted tho

A Very good performance. Your singing is definitely traditional. My only comment is, your portrayal of Papgano is too confident. Papgano is not a confident man that is why all his songs are him lamenting about his inability to finding a wife. He is mostly bumbling throught this adventure and is making by on luck.

I hate it when operahouses hire these postmodern costume designers, stage designers and write unnecessary additional lines into the play. It totally ruins such timeless classics... A shame. Good voice though, needs to work on his pronounciation of german vocals though, sch, ch et cetera.

Because the entire thing was originally written in German and the lyrics probably only work in German

No you are not answering the question, they should either play the whole opera in English or German, instead they are doing it half half which is not comprehensible.@@insertnamehere15253

I'd assume its because its being performed for an English speaking audience who likely doesn't understand much german so its helpful to have the libretto in English but the songs in german. (Plus those performances have a screen or something for the translation of the songs

Good technique idea to set the spoken text in modern English. The original German sounds old fashioned and awkward.

​@@solveiglandvikbrg9103 I don't understand your comment. Surely you must see that the text of Zauberflöte is dated and silly-as most ancient texts are. Music and visual arts on the contrary stay fresh and modern.Of course the English version doesn't make the naïve plot any better but this can't be helped whitout changing everything.
