Einhell Table Saw Part 1 Initial Set Up & Initial Thoughts before a Series of Mods.
This saw is a low end Budget Saw branded Einhell of German Design but also branded with many other labels with minor differences but basically the same saw, i believe.
The price i paid was only a fraction over £100 delivered to my door by Wickes DIY chain in UK. After this initial set up i have found that the table/ bench saw could be much improved with some minor modifications to make it more in line with my requirements for DIY / Hobby use and to be easier and better to use, also be more accurate and quicker to set up and be better to store were space is a premium.
Thanks for Watching
Kev

Hi Kev. They sell Einhell in Australia and it seems to be world wide. I went to the Oz site and there were two comments on that particular saw. One refered to the small scale - apparently the earlier model went full width. No really negative comments. A lot of woodworking tables and clamps, lathes etc are made out of pressed steel these days. Such is life for the price ;) Cheers Rob

cheers Rob, cheap as chips, but i think it will be a good DIY saw with some mods, but is'nt a patch on my old one, when i get time i think i will probably repair the old one, just need a time machine to get everything done🤣👍👍👍 thanks for the feedback cheers Kev

The double duty on the blade riser is a good little feature, very novel! My advice about the rip fence scale is 'never trust them'! Measuring the gap with a tape is usually just as quick. Well, it may be a cheapie but it looks tough enough to get the job done, with appropriate treatment it should last well. Thanks for showing us Kev. Incidentally, keep us posted about any repairs on the old P saw - I need a lot of advice about such things. Cheers mate.

eyup Mark Cheers, yes i only use the scale as a rough guide, were it matters i always measure independently, you know the saying i'm sure measure 30 times and cut once🤣🤣👍 i will keep you posted if i repair the other, one atb Kev

Morning Trev. Not the old Einhell saw. We had a few that we used as disposable site saws. We used to discard the legs and build a box to stand/bolt them to. The lads would rip maybe 50 lenghts of softwood for a site job and the motor would still only be warm. We used to think of them as disposable because of the cost. No where near accurate in any shape or form but we used to clamp a stop block behind the fence to make it super rigid. Curious seeing the fence on the left of the blade? Also you will notice the timber rose when it gets so far through the blade. In an ideal world you only want a max of 10mm of the blade showing above your stock when pushing through but that means a reliable and easy way of adjusment. Get a good blade [that will cost half the price of the saw] and she will serve you well. Regards Stuart from farther North.

Cheers Stuart all advice taken on board👍👍👍, the fence will go either side, it's just me i like to work that way. When time permits i will repair my super sturdy old saw. Just needed this to get some pressure off me, with jobs backing up.😰😰👍👍👍👍😄 atb Kev that's Kev🤣👍(from a bit further south)

I picked up a used Tin top , even smaller than those. Put a carbide blade in it and use it exclusively for cutting aluminium.

I wonder if you could graft the top of the old one onto the new one? 😀

Hi Julia Yes i did think of that, and may try later after i get time to try to repair the old one, it's a bit involved and don't have the time or inclination at the moment. But it's a thought. thanks for the idea. we will see regards Kev

Cheers Kev. Shame about the other one. Have you checked the resistance of the motor?
@MrFactotum
@MrFactotum Жыл бұрын
cheers Ben Not had time to delve in to it yet, the motor still runs and the brushes are ok, but there is some sort of brake on it and i think its something to do with that not releasing properly and causing the motor to heat up as it's over working. Just need some of that thing that never stops, Time!!🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍 If i need any advice on the motor i will get back to you when i eventually have a look at it.If that's okay with you. many thanks Kev

Ive seen their gear around for a few years now and always wondered how good it was, machine mart seem to sell a lot of their range. As for your original table saw i have an identical model in the garage havnt used it for a few years but very much like your philosophy it if its costxs nought to keep it then its worth keeping. Nice variety lately but missing the engineering keep smilling😊

Totally agree Steve, costs nothing to save just in case, trouble is then you start buying more sheds🤣🤣 Now the weather soon starting to turn, i will be back on the micro lathe and reconing the loco i recently gambled on, just got to get a few other jobs out of the way, this saw needs some irritating mods for my use and needs and i must get that loco stripped down and at least the frame painted while the weather holds. Also some major jobs on the loco to come like the cylinders and valve gear, i've just scrounged some big lumps of cast iron to make the cylinders instead of using castings that cost an arm and a leg, some people use to hint that i was tight as cramp, but now they say i am as tight as cramp🤣🤣 see you soon Kev

Thanks for that excellent review Kev. Unfortunately we now live in a sad world where everything is manufactured as quickly and cheaply as possible with a view of a very short user life. Profits and margins are driven by repeat sales and growth sustainability. If manufacturers sell a product which is well designed and made with expensive materials they are out of business in a few years because there are no repeat sales of the product. As you say it is worthwhile to try to repair you old saw bench which is built to significantly higher design standard and with far superior materials. Today you old saw bench would cost 10 times as much to manufacture. I find this trend surfacing with every product now. Cheers Paul

thanks Paul you've hit the nail on the head with your analogy i think every manufacturer is in a race to use all the earths resources, as quick as they can Instead of thinking ahead, then they will be in a race to go to the moon for it's resources. Then after that, i don't know, but even though i won't be here to worry about it i still do worry for our grandkids sake. I try to reuse and mend everything i own, use or work on, and i will mend that saw, and let someone in need have the other one. I'm just in the process of trying to mend the toilet cistern mechanism🤣👍 its leaking water everywhere and feeling a little flushless🤣👍 see you next time Kev

I have a screwfix special and it looks pretty much identical to your einhell. I guess they all come out of China and are painted and badged for whomever. I'd fix your original when you have time as it looks far better made. Thanks for sharing.

Yes Matthew, they must all be far eastern for the price, to be honest i don't know how money is made on them, for their price, your right about mending the other one, i just need the time, that many things on the go and i needed an instant saw to keep me going. Never got time to be bored🤣👍👍 i will be back on the loco and micro lathe soon, amongst other things, i hope. I enjoy making the video's, but everything then takes at least twice to three times as long to do, thanks for watching and your feedback see you next time regards Kev

Very useful review Kev, dust extraction seemed to be it's most redeeming feature which is a shame. You know what me and dead trees are like together so I won't be needing one of these, however, that particular brand of equipment is definitely not on the 'go and buy one' list now! I have no idea why Germany would want to advertise itself like this, the world is definitely changing in our race to the bottom, such a shame. Cheers, Jon

What ho Mr F, Can i believe my eyes and ears, Mr F who builds lathes and power hacksaws and all sorts of other gizmos gave up fixing a simple saw motor, and even worse let the side down by spending real money, i need a sit down after the shock.😅 ATB C

cheers chris, i really feel guilty now, not for not fixing the old one but for spending money🤣🤣🤣🤣👍👍 it will get mended but i don't have the time or inclination at the moment. I just wanted an instant saw to get some long awaited jobs done, mind you it wasn't that instant because i ended up having had to do many modifications to get it to suit my needs, as you will see later, that's if you want to watch. I thought i would get more than enough time now retired, !!! but my next job is a time machine🤣🤣🤣😉😉👍👍👍 atb Kev
