Enjoyed your video. I was fortunate to have stayed in Basel for 3 weeks. I stayed at a reasonably priced Air-B&B. What a wonderful experience. I haven’t stopped thinking of it. Closeting retirement. I plan to stay much longer on my next visit. Prefect location. Very enjoyable.

Great video guys! I also love to walk to the top of the Munster Cathedral and take in the glorious 360 views over Basel. Rhein swimming is one of life’s little luxuries.

The Römerfest in Augusta Raurica is a pretty nice yearly event near Basel. Total imersion into the antique Roman city of Augusta Raurica!

I never got to the festival, but I visited the ruins a couple of times. I can imagine the Römerfest would be a lot of fun!

For me Restaurant Schnabel and the Spalebar are very recommendable. Btw: Our city is by far older than 44BC. We had a celtic population long before. Some artefacts found are 20‘000 years old.

Awesome video! I truly enjoyed learning more about Basel. I already knew about Art Basel (I must experience that after the Covid pandemic is conquered or at least when there's a vaccine), but I had no idea Basel's population is so huge. To have learned recently that I have some Swiss ancestry has made me resolute in traveling to several cantons in Switzerland. And thanks for reminding us how expensive it is to stay in Switzerland.

It is expensive, but everything works perfectly and is maintained perfectly. And it is so clean and well-organised. We have had a great life in Basel :-) Thanks so much for your comments.

It's so nice to hear about your perspective. Basel is my 2nd home. 🤗 I also try to make a video about my experience but it was only for a short while though. Incomparable with your 7 years of stay in Basel. 🤗

Thanks for your feedback. I think all perspectives are important - the new visitor to Basel shows me things I might have forgotten or take for granted. Let me take a look at your video :-)

I really missed not having the fasnacht this year ... hopefully the world will return back to normal soon and next year we can enjoy it all again. Regards to restaurants I love Indian Tandori Palace (they speak very good english also) and aren't expensive. Also just to point out the local bakeries in basel along with coop & migros super markets sell a great selection of sandwiches for people on a budget as I know while holidaying food really starts to add up .... In the winter make sure you grab some Maroni (sweet chestnut) from the Maroni stand! An absolute must try...

Great tips! Thanks so much for adding them. Missing fasnacht this year was definitely a bummer. I’m looking forward to life getting back to normal again.

Nice Video! I myself also like to stroll through the different city quarters and residential zones of Basel. Some are very interesting and full of life. What also would be a nice thing to do while visiting Basel is exploring the region surrounding it. There are for example the city of Mulhouse in France, the Black Forest in Germany or the Jura Mountains in Switzerland. And Basel actually isn't that small. The urban area has 600'000 up to 850'000 residents, depending on how you count. The roughly 200'000 residents are just the ones living in the municipality of Basel, which is rather small.

Hi! Is it normal that people live in Saint Louis, France and work in Basel? Cheers
@EinhornTravelAccessories2 жыл бұрын
They do. But they need to have a special tax status so that they pay part tax in FR and part in CH. Housing in St Louis is much cheaper, but I’m not sure how much you really gain once the double tax is taken in to consideration.
