Dr Lipton's point of view that QM is needed to explain MRI-phenomena is just a personal one!

0:45 Mistake: it is not due to "enough energy into the system " it is due to stimulating the signal with a COHERENCE radio frequency, in principle you can stimulate with incoherence rf too. 2:17 Mistake : You can lose energy without losing coherence and vice versa . But in practice T1 (lost of energy) is longer than T2 and T2* (lost of transverse component , that is coherence). 3:38 Totally wrong. It is painful to listen this piece.

I think he is intentionally leaving those pieces of information out to simplify the explanation, he expands on it in later videos.

why is 3:38 wrong? If you stop applying the external magnetic field surely everything reverts back ?

@@AaBb-xh9ds There is EM-radiation pumped into the system (= patient in the scanner). This has a resonance-effect making the precessing vectors go around in-fase (or more in-fase). This gives a transverse component to the overall M-vector that is measurable (= signal).
