Einstein Parrot

5 жыл бұрын

After getting a shower Einstein talks up a storm and tells you all about it! As he drys off, he says many references to all things water. He says the ever popular "Look at you! You're all wet!" many times, as well as making the water sound. He also pretends to eat corn at about the 23:38 mark and has a new saying, "Clean it with water" can be found at the 17:00 minute mark.
🐦
Einstein Parrot is a very talkative African Grey Parrot! He lives with us in our home in Texas and was hatched on June 15, 1997. Einstein is a silly, smart, and popular parrot who loves to talk and entertain! He is famous for his impression of Matthew McConaughey, ( • Einstein thinks Matthe... ) NOT the "Einstein" that was featured on the TV show Animal Planet. He likes to talk on various "parrot approved areas" in our home, such as the kitchen drawer, the shower, kitchen chairs, napkin holders, and of course his play perches! Einstein has brought much joy to our lives, but training and living with a parrot requires time, patience, and sacrifice.

Every time he says “raspberry” he drops his pitch to a man voice. Most of the time he sounds like a woman. It’s amazing how they can sound just like the person who taught them. My dad had an African gray and every phrase my dad taught him, he sounded like my father. Sometimes when I was in another room, he would actually trick me that my dad was home. Any of the phrases he learned from me, he sounded just like me and the same was true with things my brother taught him. When my brother was still a kid, the things he taught the parrot, he still said in my brothers higher voice before it changed. Then anything he taught him the gray would sound like his post puberty voice. It’s just amazing how they can copy a voice perfectly. I had read that when you sing to an African Gray, if you sing out of key or flat, so too will the bird. I’ve heard parrots that sing flat, but if the person can sing very well, so too will the parrot. So if you want your gray to sing beautifully and you can’t sing, you better let someone with perfect pitch sing to them.

That depends on who taught him the word. I noticed that “raspberry”, “bye” and “do you want a carrot” in the same male voice. Everything else Einstein said was in a woman’s voice. They are such good impersonators that if you teach them a song and you sing flat, the bird will also sing flat. On the contrary, they can sing like Povarotti if the teacher has a pitch perfect voice. My dad had an African gray and he sounded just like my dad’s voice, so perfectly, that I would hear him from another room and thin it was my dad. Every word I taught him, he said in my voice. He also imitated my younger brother perfectly, both before my brother’s voice changed and afterwards. Anything my brother taught him before puberty still sounded like my brother’s younger voice, even years after my brother had a deep voice. Only anything he taught him later, he would say in my brother’s deeper voice.

He obviously learned “raspberry” from a man, because the pitch of his voice drops to a man. It’s wild how they don’t just mimic the word or phrase, but they can actually impersonate the one who taught them. My dad had an African gray parrot named “Captain Flint” (from Treasure Island), we called just “Captain”. He learned from my dad me and my younger brother. He said the things we taught him in each respective voice. He even said things my brother taught him earlier in my brother’s higher pitch voice before his voice changed. Anything my brother taught him afterwards, he repeated in his lower voice. They are perfect impressionist. I also noticed the man must have been the one giving him carrots, since he said “have some carrots” in the same low voice he used for “raspberry” and “Bye”. Those were all of the man’s voice I heard, everything else sounded like, a woman.

When I used to shave my head about once every 3 months, my grey would freak out at me. He didn't recognize me and he'd get skittish. I would walk up and put my head to the cage and say, "It's okay, it just a haircut". After that, he associated, "haircut" with fear. He'd be in the back seat of the car in his plexiglass carrier and a semi would pass us. He'd freak out and yell, "Haircut! Haircut!".

casij22745 a carrot will mimic sounds they hear frequently like water in a glass or gargling. It takes months to teach them a single phrase. You need to repeat it thousands of times before they get it down but, they are funny in their habits. Parrot s are high maintainable pets and live very long lives.

African Greys are natural imitators in the wild. Birds that imitate noises and other birds can use these noises to scare off predators by imitating the sound if yet ANOTHER predator to scare off actual predator, for example. The bird in Australia which is arguably the best imitator of them all is the lyre bird. They can imitate chain saws, camera shutters, car alarms, but this is for attracting a mate. Here in the UK, I’ve seen and heard starlings imitate a blackbirds (thrush family) song but I haven’t yet figured out why they do it?

It takes a bath for him to make my favorite sound, the water sound :) ( which he hasn't made in a while that I've heard ) Hahaha, he seems to understand the connection of taking a bath and being wet and water.

So not only is it super fun watching Einstein chat away, its ALSO so interesting to hear him change the sounds as he practices. Like, he says 'squirrel' a few different ways, whether its because he's trying to imitate the specific sound or what-have-you, it sounds so cool. Einstein is a great birb. 10/10 would 'water' again.

It seems like a man was feeding Einstein carrots, because he said “want a carrot?” In a deep masculine voice, as well as “bye” and “raspberry”. I imagine the man of the house feeds him raspberries. I think I remember him saying “do you want a grape?” also in a man’s voice in another video. This parrot has an amazing vocabulary. Someone has worked many hours with Einstein and it sounds like a woman who did most of the training by the pitch of his voice. It takes a lot of time to train one to talk at all, so to have one with such a ridiculous vocabulary is astounding. African Grays are the most intelligent of all parrots based on the amount of words they can remember. They aren’t just repeating either. They can know when to use the right phrase. I saw one African gray able to identify items on a table by both color and shape. If they held up the green plastic key and asked him what they were holding, he’d say the “green key”. It stunned the scientist, because at that time, they were believed to be just ancient tape reorders that repeat back what they’re taught. She proved that they do associate their phrase with what it means. I saw a video recently where the parrot was trying to stop a dog from barking by telling it to “stop that” over and over, but when the dog finally shut up, the parrot said “good boy”. I was blown away. He knew what he was doing, proved by the correct usage of “good boy”. That video may have been Einstein, I don’t remember.
