Personally for me its because the way alot of german bands have a way of putting things together. The beat is so deep and alive. The instrumentals are synced together so perfectly. THE GENRE IS JUST SO PERFECT! Most American music just cant compare !

I enjoy German for both music and language because to me it is masculine and aggressive but also melodic and heartfelt. Bands like Eisbrecher and Unheilig just speak to me more than the shallow and whiny refuse most readily available in America, tho I have not a drop of German blood in me.

Personally, I love most music in foreign languages. I think it's that not knowing what they're saying lets your brain concentrate more on the music. Also, each language definitely has a preferred sound, and with German it is absolutely industrial music such as this. The language is suited to being used so aggressively, as heard in this song.

German is the largest European ethnic group in the US then Irish. People assume it is English because most Euro-Americans speak English. We didn't assimilate so much before both World Wars. We took down our German shop signs and put up English and we started to speak English primarily to avoid backlash.

Good song but wir laufen amok doesn't translate to we're running amok, it literally means to go on a shooting rampage or another event involving wielding weapons. The translation is known as a "false friend", to run amok in English means for something to get out of control, weapons are rarely involved

+Ben Stevenson The translation is correct. It's just one of those words with a technical meaning that people have found informal uses for. www.merriam-webster.com/medical/amok

I like this. It kinda seems like an anti-war song, from my point of view. Specifically what it must be like to be a child soldier. Either that, or it's a song about a school shooting. Either one is pretty cool.

I also am of German decent, but I really listen to German music (Rammstein, Eisbrecher, Blutengel, Megaherz) because the current crap that they are calling American music simply sucks. The music of these German bands makes me happy! The lyrics are thought provoking and frequently poetic quality (not the usual gangsta rap crap or people whining about their relationships, like in the USA.) LMFAO I also think German is a beautiful language. The sounds are pleasant to my ears.

@Dragonbornn In more colloquialistic means, as I believe is being used in the song, "amok" can just mean "crazy" or "insane". "To run amok" is a good example for English because it means essentially "we're running crazy" as in being hyper and just doing whatever. Haha

When he says Wir stehn unter Schock, shouldn't it translate to "We're standing in shock." Not "We're in shock" I don't know a lot of German, but that stood out to me and made more sense.

I'd like to believe it is because a decently sized portion of our immigrant population originally was of germanic descent. So it's all about going back to our roots -- or it is for me, at least.

I'd say because they make awesome music. Germans however, can understand the lyrics to Bueck Dich, Spiel Mit Mir, etc., which I guess all have kind of weird lyrics, so they get turned off early. Too bad for them!

I generally can understand most of it without the lyrics, mostly its lack of vocabulary that throws me when listening to music in German. I can usually listen and grasp about 80% of what's being said. Most of the higher art of the song is lost on me though, but the only way you can get pass that is to keep studying. Basically I listen to German music and watch stuff in German because I want to learn German and exposing myself the language is helpful.

I see - nothing wrong with that. :D But most of the people just listen and don't know WHAT the text says in their language. Sure here is a translation but ... I don't think you count to this people :P just a fact that many people listen and they dont understand. :)
