So glad you finally got to see this one! Your “mind blown” reaction was just the same as mine! Eivør (pronounced I-vor) is from the Faroe Islands 🇫🇴. Since discovering her I’ve actually traveled to there twice to experience it’s otherworldly beauty. I’ve posted a number of travel videos from there on my KZbin channel. There is much much more Eivør awesomeness out there. I hope you’ll check out her live version of “True Love” - performed in Reykjavik. I’ll send you the link. You are the first person who has noted the importance of the guitar arrangement and teasing chords here too - and how it helps frame the astonishing vocal. It was the same with Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah - the guitar arrangement was exceptional and integral too in that case (similar cathedral like tone too), and no-one ever notices it. Eivor often sings this to a piano accompaniment (and did so in London a couple of weeks ago - i was lucky enough to be there) but for me, the guitar arrangement is more evocative and there's something about her voice and fingers working together that elevates this performance. It's one for the ages.

Hi there Derek ! Super awesome to see that you chose to react to this one. As I've told you, I rank this particular performance WAY,WAY up there among the best. It's just something with the whole package - Her vocals, the instrumentals, the music build-up, the lighting and the intimacy - you name it. Luckily, Eivõr is not a one trick pony, very far from it. She has released a ton of great songs, and her integrity as a vocalist, a composer/music producer and an artist is extremely strong. In 2019 she realeased an album called "Live In Tórshavn". IMO that album has absolutely NO weak parts whatsoever. It can ofc be found in Spofity. As it happens, the very first track on that album, called "Mjørkaflókar" is also one of my favorites by her, and is still goosebumps-inducing after what must be like listen number 100 or so...lol I'll give you the link here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/bF6pf2umbb-lers IMO the sound isn't perfect here, so I'll give you a link for another mv to the same song, which is a lyrics video, but with beautiful sound and beautiful, relaxing visuals : kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4uzg2Rre9Gam9U For a reaction I think I would have chosen the latter and then watch the live on your own. In the lyrics video you also get to see what the written language of the vikings looked like (Icelandic hasn't changed all that much in 1000 years... ) Here in the Nordics you can find a particular, almost hauntingly beautiful music style that almost can't be found anywhere else. And we also have a very particular vocal style, that can be found in a few other cultures as well. It consists of what most precicely can be described as guttural sounds. She demonstrates this style very well in one of her most popular songs, called "Trøllabundin". "Trøllabundin" also has a very beautiful music video to go with it, shot above the fjords here in Norway, and is something to behold for sure. I'll give you a link for that one too : kzbin.info/www/bejne/raTPXn5-fMpngc0 Eivõr ( Listen to the Norwegian pronunciation here: translate.google.com/?sl=en&tl=no&text=Eiv%C3%B8r%0A&op=translate&hl=no ) lives in Iceland, but is born Faeroese. So she is a neighbour of ours. Close m8, but no cigar. Thanks again buddy for doing this. I'll call you Chris for hereon out if you give her a few more shots. It will be well worth your time and effort, and I don't think you have to worry about yor reactions getting stricken down either, which must be a great plus :-) Warm greetings from an ever colder Norway❤❤❤ (My favorite season is fast approaching, so no complaints from ME, AKA The Viking though...lol )

There are maybe 30 songs, or so... I would like to recommend as the next one to review. But now I would go for "Gullspunnin" from "I Luftini" (from Eivor's latest album). Eivor is a very nice lady, supertalanted in music + painter, painting beutiful pieces of art. A Lady with the very good sense of humor. I did have luck to meet her in person 2 months ago in UK :) If you are in US she will be there on Tour within 2 weeks time :) P.S. Hello ! And yet another one who's worshipping Eivor's best song... and I can only HIGHLY recomnend to check out other songs from her, since she has vey big variety of different styles, ranging from rock, over pop, folk and classical music. There is so much more brilliant stuff from her to discover. I would HIGHLY recommend some for you to react to : Trodlabundin (Live 10.08.13) - This is TOTALLY different from what you have just heard, but it's at least as captivating as "Falling free"... sung in her native language (Faroese) Gullspunnin (Live at KVF) - Another great song of her, sung in her native language (Faroese !) Monster - Hauntingly beautiful song... just her voice and a kalimba Slor (London solo session) - Also a beautiful song, just her and a guitar... There are many other songs you could react to, but these I would recommend to check out next. Best wishes from a German Eivor fan, who just experienced one of her live performances last month... and it was MAGICAL Gerry

Found your channel through you Disturbed - Sound Of Silence reaction. Though I didn't comment there, I have to say that I really enjoyed that reaction and seeing your soul get rocked by David's vocals 😁 Speaking on this(Eivor - Falling Free) reaction, a couple things to point out. She is not from Norway, but actually from the Faroe Islands. She is an amazing writer/performer/artist. She also writes music in her native Faroese language with influences with the Faroe Islands' folk(traditional) music. Being a die hard metal head, Nord music is probably second for me, as it's very ethereal, earthy, raw and reconnects my spirit to my body, as it tends to drift off randomly 🤣 I highly recommend her live performance of the song Trodlabundin, shot in Norway. It's one of her traditional style songs sung in her native Faroese language, and it is mind blowing. Here is the link to the correct video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/raTPXn5-fMpngc0

I had not seen her before but she was amazing. I am not sure if you are able t connect with other youtube channels but there is a man from Ireland who is a professional singer/ comedian /reactor (It's Me, Barry). He reacts a lot to PTX even plays their songs twice a reaction and a review, He has said he has written and got some kind of approval from them. I don't know how that is done but he seems like a nice guy maybe he might give you some information on that. On the other hand, there are other acapella groups that might be easier to react to that are just as good Homefree "Ring Of Fire" is great. (they are more country and gospel with some pop). There is also VoicePlay, a very theatrical group, They have a Viking song "My Mother Told Me".

She deserves a place in the line-up for sure. I saw her live a couple of weeks ago in Hamburg. Hardly 100 attendants in a very small round (!) venue with perfect accoustics. It was such a treat. You already got a few more suggestions for her songs here in the comments. Let me add 'Salt - Live at the train-warehouse' to the list, or pick any of her songs by yourself. You can't go wrong with any of them. On the road of incredible artists from scandinavia, I would like to add Kalandra ... maybe 'Brave New World' for a start. Either in the Gildehallen at Borre or in the Kulturkirken Jakob, but in any case live. Enjoy !

She's just great. Has been in my playlist for a long time. The song is basically a one big build up from start to finish. That's why it's a pity because of the interruptions in between. Of course, it is in the nature of reaction videos that one always falls by the wayside and that is the whole feeling that a song wants to convey. Nevertheless, I like to watch your videos, because at least in the interruptions you have something clever to say about it and also pay attention to lyrics. As Aurora once expressed very sympathetically, Norwegians do not have much to do in winter in their free time. It's almost always night, darkness reigns and that's when you start singing and making music to counteract depression. That's what she said.

Thank you very much for a heartfelt and meaningful reaction! My suggestions for reaction are her versions of the songs "Heyr Himna Smiður" (Icelandic hymn), "May It Be" (Enya song), "Bird on a wire" (Leonard Cohen song, check #ISLANDROADS version) and "Song to the siren" (Tim Buckley song). It all are indescribable. Eivør has already written about a hundred songs, some of which are as beautiful as Falling Free. Moreover, each of her next album is far different from the previous one. The number of collaborations with other musicians is almost incalculable, partly because some of this has not been released and has seen only by the lucky few (for example, her lead role in the opera about Marilyn Monroe in Canada). Diving into her work, you will need to hold your breath for a very long time...

Eivør is absolutely fantastic! Unique and special in all the good ways 😍. I could only wish she was norwegian😊. There is another norwegian singer songwriter i so strongly believe you would appreciate, Susanne Sundfør. She is absolutely magnificent, and also kind of paved the way for our young queens that you listen to. I'd suggest giving "when the Lord" a listen, a song she made for a norwegian documentary about Lene Marie Fossen, a leding photographer here in Norway, which struggled with anorexia. The official music video gives a small insight into her life with the beautiful song from Susanne. I really don't think you'll be disappointed, but the content is strong and graphic, but very serious and important with a theme that is more and more a struggle for too many young ones in these times. I do urge you to give Susanne a try, and also her song "undercover" and the song "Oblivion" from the movie with the same name, live of course 😉 love your reactions, hugs from Norway 🤗

Not planning on letting you down anytime soon m8. You're safe. BTW, you can call me Hans if you want. Hans-Jørgen actually :-) But Hans will do 😉😂
