As a geophysicist and Norwegian that can certainly comprehend the lyrics when written - I wish to point out that the lyrics are damn near explaining "thermohaline circulation". Which is perhaps the most poetic pure-physic non-living global system we have on this planet. I would need at least 45 minutes to explain just how beautiful it is. That sea-water is salty, that temperature varies a lot - that density of water is depending on both and thus drives our ocean currents at peak rates of billions of tons of water per second is moving - ensuring that nutrients and oxygen is "ventilated" on our blue planet is as beautiful as the fact that we humans need a bit of salt - but can not drink sea-water - but we can drink rainwater - being amazingly distilled like the finest cognac - making water drinkable for the fine people on the Faroe Islands that are surrounded by salt-water at a latitude where ocean-current heat-exchange makes their land beautifully green instead of being a permanent ice-cube. The reason is that salt indeed makes water grow heavy. And the biggest waterfalls on the planet happens north of the Faroe Islands, in the Nordic Seas. Where all this salty and warm water from the tropics drops into the abyss with volumes that makes all the freshwater rivers on the planet combined look like a literal drop in the sea. When you look at the "subsurface" ocean-rivers doing counter-current waterfall-thingies (that is a scientific term on youtube) between Shetland and Faroe Islands - yeah - Salt. And rain. And massive amounts of energy.

surging through my body, the ocean in me. crashing waves of memory, currents of longing. the tide is turning. the undertow takes ahold of me. i know i should go now, i know that it’s time. in canyons deep within my soul, torrents of fury. they carve away my fear, but the hurt still echoes. the tide is turning. the undertow takes ahold of me. i know i should go now, i know that it’s time. out on the horizon, a storm is brewing. i let the breakers rush over me and feel the ocean’s heart pounding. surging through my body, the ocean in me. the tide is turning. the undertow takes ahold of me. i know i can go now, i know that it’s time. the tide is turning. the undertow takes ahold of me. i know i should go now, i know that it’s time. i know i should go now.

Nas profundezas da minha pele Meu anseio cai como uma cascata, Ele agita o tempo, Come no início da manhã. E as ondas são assustadoras, Todas elas puxam para o fundo, Eu sei que devo ir, Eu sei que eu posso. Longe da terra Eu vagamente me lembro do cinza, Eu deixei as ondas me levarem, Eu sinto o mar profundo tremer. O mar está em mim, O sal nas minhas lágrimas.
