Glad to see nowa on here. I keep seeing people saying he’s bad or meh/mediocre. He’s always been a very clear S tier to me. Anyone that can equip a path and pinnacle rune simultaneously I can’t see as bad. He’s got good stats. Good rune slots. Good sp skills. Chain smash can crit and it’s only 1 sp. he was in my party through the whole game. Yea he’s not on the level of momo or leene, but they’re very clearly broken. Nowa is a solid S tier character.

That's what I'm saying! He's great, just has to be in the frontline and set up correctly. Wish more characters had more rune options, it's so hindering.

@@zutchkorr3056 yea rune slots are what really hurt a lot of characters. I wish everyone had at least one unique attack skill too. Hopefully in maybe a patch or in the sequel they fix some things. Id like to see magic have reduced mp cost by a lot. There’s no reason mages shouldn’t be able to cast spells until a boss fight. Seign being able to use lightning rush more often would be a lot more fun but that move is like 80 or 90mp. They also need to fix the damage calculation on hero combos and make them do more damage in general. Having to have unique team comps to use them as well as have the sp is enough of a balance to let them do more damage.

@@MADma3str0 But there are 3, 4, and 6 combination. It makes sense if the 2 combination is not that strong, but with Friendship/Senior combo with 500+ damage per hit is already strong. You're not satisfied yet? Or perhaps you want to 1 hit every enemies you encounter, man that's boring.

Iugo reminds me of Rikimaru from Suikoden 2 , you find him hungry laying on ground you feed him and he quickly becomes one of the strongest characters in entire game , also my favourite was dog Shiro from suikoden 2

Tried a meme nowa build and it’s actually not bad. Switched all his runes for magic. So high magic and arcane magic runes. Mages path and pinnacle. Searing blast wave did 1400 damage on the ancient seed boss in endless. And the same damage against the first wolf encounter on that floor. After storm front buff, swinging slash did 600 damage +900 on the bear rider encounter. 1500 damage on a “mage” build with a physical attack is hilarious. Nowa might be one of the most flexible characters in the game. And he can still attack the front row of enemies while maintaining the pinnacle buff in the back row.

Early game she is pretty bad. Makes a better healer at that point. Late game... she's amazing!

I can second this. I loved mios style but she seemed so weak. Now she is a staple on my team for the Endless runs. Her nickname is "The God Killer." she basically one shots every boss in the tower with her rune attack.

Pretty much the op tier list XD. Btw id replace the black knight with black dragon. He is freaking op in both clearing and single target , incredibly tanky and can help reduce enemy aoe damage casualty

Chandra? Solid character! I don't find Reyna OP, she's just good at covering teammates that have Warrior's Path rune on and preventing them from dying. Iugo or Dijkstra could replace her fairly easily.

​@@zutchkorr3056didn't think I'd care for Reyna since she is defense based but I was SO wrong. Now she sits in my front line blocking the majority of front row attacks and still has enough damage to kill mobs with her counters.

Apart from Mio's weird placement, which is still understandable, there is one thing I really can't agree on and it's Reyna being in the top ten at all. Really not dying is all she does. Most high tier characters will do 3 to 4 times her damage and still not die. Nil definitely deserves that spot.

I would use her as a back up tank sometimes and throw Dijkstra in the back with Firefly rune to pull as much aggro as possible (and maybe cover) from the character using Warrior's Path and a Pinnacle runes.

Good top ten list imo just want to add honorable mention with yusuke and francesca for characters you get very early in the game they are powerful compared to others but easily get overshadowed by endgame

@@drixm9358 each playthrough, you can get 3 of each Primordial armor piece. Doing Endless Mode is where you find the last of them, just up to 26 floors. Mio is pretty awful in early game, but man she hits hard in endgame. I think almost every charge up characters are good as well.

Interesting list ! I have a question, for physical / crit characters, what made you go for crits/luck buff instead of damage ? For example with Iugo you went with one critical hit buff and one luck buff while you gave Mio 2 damages buff and a crit buff

Luck helps with evasion and crits. So it's perfect for Iugo to evade and counter (and crit).

I'm almost at the end of my 2nd playthrough with normal leveled characters. I will highly consider doing this. Leene isn't really good until you start farming the best runes anyways.

Where do you get rune of Clairvoyance? Is it from endless mode?

Nope, it's from an NPC that goes to each story event town/city, starting in Hishahn. It's not missable but he can be hard to spot. His name is Sayid Ali, he'll eventually show up at HQ by the hotsprings and give you the rune.

you can practically stack lots of atk boosting rune on her, can equip both path and pinnacle rune as well. So all of that damage is based on her high atk stat (boosted by runes, can hit almost 1k)

I think it's a good list. If you want to easily progress through endless dungeon (I stopped at flor 52 myself) - you only need 4 core characters (since other 2 you must sub every floor) and lots of substitute mages with Earth magic that makes party immune to damage. Basically the idea is - do fk ton damage and kill enemy before they can make a move - and for bosses - depends on situation - use Earth Immunity magic once - and then nuke it in 2 max 3 turns. My core 4 was : Nowa - an A+ with good damage and defense, can go for up to 1,7k when critting - more if go for glass cannon build Dijkstra - S tier - best buffer in the game Momo - S+ tier - glass cannon build with over 600 hp and 900 magic - hitting like a truck for up to 2,5k when critting, also capable of healing and casting immunity spells Leene - she is in her own tier - extremely fast - she can hit single target (boss) for up to 3,5k and go for up to 20k-25k on 6 trash mobs with her skill attack without using mana. There is nothing that comes close. She single-handedly wipes trash waves in Endless dungeon and has like 60% overall damage done to the bosses. I used glass cannon build with def/mdef less than 100 - offsetting it with 970 strength and 750 hp. Bit risky still but after you get Hero accessory - she can use her skill every trash wave.

Thank you! I might have been bias but I liked the characters because they're good! It's a shame more characters can't be viable on that level. You hit the nail on the head with that lineup and the strategy. There really isn't much point going really deep in Endless Mode other than the challenge. I wouldn't want my game to crash in the middle of all that, haha. Solid stuff though! I love seeing what other people use and the versatility.

You can use MP recovery items. They're plentiful if you have someone with the Super Lucky Badge equipped.

But brings no real quality to a real rpg. Especially comparing this to a real suikoden game. That game was a work of art at every level. This was fun, but still sub par.

Too strong, it doesn't make sense anymore. There's no way to enjoy the game's difficulty with that builds and level. And the game is too short compare to Suikoden II.

Quite a few characters are overtuned while others not so much. I say play whoever you enjoy regardless of metas (in every game). Suikoden still has their fair share of broken characters but does feel rather balanced for the most part.
