They had to stop after an equipment failure and a massive crab that ejected 7 out of the boat.

Cox should have made stroke pair just steady the boat and complete the piece as a 6. The seat had obviously come off the runners so he wasn't going to fix it until they came to a stop. Bad coxing and coaching from the bank

haha, i feel sorry for that 7 seat... first his seat breaks and he doesnt row for like a whole minute-im sure the rest of the boat was pissed-and then he gets ejected. poor guy.

St. Augustine Prep. I was on the lightweight 8. we actually finished second behind St. Joe's, but we wouldve been behind them anyway. They're freaking insane. They easily won the finals with like half a boat of open water.

@Davesintexas the term crab comes from the phrase catching a crab... its pretty much like the water grabs hold of the oar and you get flung back... it can be very dangerous. its more complicated than that, i just put it simply for you

Seriously. He should have been holding on to the oar with one hand. and it shouldnt have taken nearly that long. a few weeks ago at the semi-finals of stotes the guy in front of me fell off his seat on our start, took him two tries to get back on, but he managed and only missed about 8 strokes. everyone else kept rowing and we got about 6 seats down on everyone, but thenwe took it right back when he got back on the seat.

Term Crab mean to raise your oar to quit? Or a leg cramp or busted equipment? If leg cramp or body cramp my wife discovered old remedy that actually works in seconds. Yellow Mustard. A table spoon eaten alone or on something gets rid of the worst leg cramps I've ever had. The kind where standing and hot towels or hot bath water wouldn't cure. Great video work.

What's a crab? I row in Germany and am not familiar with english terminology. It better not be an actual crab though :)

It's when your oar gets stuck in the flow of the water and the handle gets swung back towards your body. Usually you can just duck as it swings and return back to rowing, but sometimes it's sudden and the oar handle knocks you out of the boat.

In all my experience of being a novice I never can seem to figure out how people get crabs in the first place. I've only caught one or two just learning but some people seem to be serial crabbers if you know what I mean.

ore height, it being too high or too low. I caught 3 today at practice, because my ore height was too low. Many other things aswell.

Arianna Not true, oar height is not a common cause. Crabs happen when you catch the water when your blade isn’t fully squared.

It was his own fault; he wasn't paying attention to his oar. You can't just leave it unattended skipping along the surface... case in point.

That happened to me today, hand to fix my shoes but i got ripped out of my seat and shoes when I crabbed. What saved me was holding the gunnel and riggers
